When it comes to Sharp, I think you are talking about a 1st and a better prospect like Teubert.
When you see some of the trades that have gone down lately I do not think it would cost that much to get either of these guys. But I guess we will soon see.

Great deal for everyone involved. I don't expect any other major moves by Dean this summer.

I think you could be right about Sturm, but I kind of think we wouldn't be the only team after Sharp.

That is true.

However, for UFA status it is accrued seasons which matter. Age 27 or 7 Accrued Season. A skater gets an accrued season after 40 games on the Club's active roster (or IR).

I don't think we need to add anyone to the roster. It would be nice, but we don't want to go ALL IN on a playoff push until the deadline, if at all.

As it stands we have a roster that can compete for a spot, lets not add any contracts that go beyond the 2009-2010 season and save our money for Quick and Frolov.

If we are on the cusp at the deadline, then I would send a pick or two (no good prospects) to get an impending UFA to help ensure we get into the playoffs. If the cap goes down, and we add a Sturm (or anyone with 2 years or more left on their deals), and Quick and Frolov have good-great seasons, we could be in more trouble than we'd like the year before the big raises come for Johnson, Doughty, Moller, Simmonds and someone to replace Williams.

Congrats to CBGB for getting this one. He said 1.4 and it ended up at 1.425 which probably explains the two-day delay in the announcement.

Next, I'd like to send a big "**** YOU!" to all the people who wanted to trade Johnson and bought into all the BS that was floating about.

Now, a quick "WOO HOO" for myself and the rest of the fans here. Awesome deal!!!

Great signing. Now lock up the loaf if he and has agent are stupid enough to sign this early.

Great deal for both. 1.4 is slightly better than the 5 million Darrin Dreger pulled out of his arse.

Why would that be stupid?

As I recall Kopitar signed his extension a year before his contract was up....I bet he really regrets that decision.

You are correct...so either way Johnson would not be a UFA until he is 27.

I'll give credit to Matt for calling the signing, but I'm still gonna make fun of him for that suit on Saturday.

Kopitar was always going to get his. Frolov would be better off waiting until UFA to cash in if he steps up his play.

So....let me get this straight.....players like Cammi are greedy because he refused to sign early and wanted to become a UFA to make more money....but Frolov is stupid if he signs a contract early and doesn't wait until he becomes a free agent so he can make more money?

So all players are either greedy or stupid?
