So have them underperform and then force them to sign a short-term deal for a low amount of money?

By the way Johnson was not an RFA and if he would have had the option to sign offer sheets the outcome could have been very different.

So this signing does many things 1) CBGB gets his rep back.....great job
2) Darren D. takes a major credibility hit
3) JMFJ's buddy that blogs here proves he has inside info again, when he told us all that those numbers were never mentioned (5m)
4) we all need zanax or something when it comes to our kings and bad rumors, I don't remember writing anything bad about the kid and his dad but I sure thought it, my apoligies(sp)........
5) that DL and his team might know something about running a team,so we can focus on just hating AEG and Lieweekly
6) we were all pushing for something to get done this summer to prove that management was as much into this team as we are and I think all of this getting done now and not waiting for the drama to drag on proves they are...... DAMN I CAN'T WAIT FOR OCTOBER

How exactly should he have performed in the past 2 seasons? He hasn't exactly set the world on fire but I don't see how he has underperformed for a 22 year old.

I read something on the tsn site that I found interesting. " The Indianapolis native also tied for first among NHL defencemen with three shootout goals this past season and his three shootout goals also tied for first on the Kings" Now granted not alot of defenceman take the shootout shots and 3 goals isnt really alot but i found it interesting that in only 41 games he lead the league in something. I realize this isnt showing alot but it disproves hes done nothing in the nhl so far. imo

Johnson has been money in the shootouts going back to his time in the World Junior tournament.

Good hard, accurate wrist shot and a quick release.

This signing even made the Baltimore Sun sports section. Look out rest of NHL - Kings Nation is on the rise.

Seriously, good deal for all involved. Good job DL.

so, NO ... unless Fro be lying ... sounds like he wants to STAY and win it with the KINGS.
Frolov deserves a new long term contract just for saying those things!
I hope they get a new contract worked out soon. One down one to go! Go get em DL

I know Johnson did more than his stats would show....but come on..

2007-08 Goals:3 Assists:8 Points:11 +/-: -19
2008-09 Goals:5 Assists:6 Points:11 +/-: -18

These numbers are underperforming no matter how you slice it. Kyle Quincey....a guy picked up off of waivers....was more productive in his 72 games as a Kings player than Johnson has been in his 120 games as a Kings player.

There is a Q&A with JJ, guess he wanted the 2 tears, that's good makes it sound like DL was wanting him longer which is a good thing.

Jack Johnson Is A Liar!

Off the Main TR/FA board ... for the love of god someone here thought they were being funny ? it's not

He's asked to be traded twice but Dean Lombardi rejected. The reason for that is because he feels nobody likes him, they like Drew Doughty more. But Drew Doughty did better then Jack and Jack only played half the season. He thinks he doesnt get enough power-play time, but he WAS INJURED FOR MOST OF THE SEASON!! He hates Matt Greene, Dean Lombardi, Terry Murray, and the Los Angeles Kings. He says he doesn't even feel part of the core.

I would know this because I'm friends with Jack Johnsons best friend, Justin.

QUOTE FROM JACK JOHNSON: "I signed with LA cheap because I like it here, and want to be part of the core."
LIAR!

Back on topic, I love Jack. My best friend (last name Johnson) recently found out what he and his wife were having and if it was a boy, his name was picked out. I lobbied a bit for it. He already loved the name. BTW, it turned out to be a girl.

What I am most interested in is going to be his consistency from game to game. I know he's got talent. You could see that from the first day he stepped on the ice for the Kings. But talent alone won't do it. If he can give a consistent effort and leave it out there night in and night out, become a team leader on the ice, look out. His potential is a young Chelios with better wheels
