I would guess about $750k. Maybe more...but he really hasn't proven much till this point.

woot.

I'm gonna stick with my guess of 900k.

But the real question is.... where the hell does he play? I'm highly curious to see what Murray does with Purcell this year... its not like he's some great checker or something. He is supposed to score, so how TM intends to get scoring out of him with the top 6 filled up will be interesting.

Don't know if it's accurate, but the NHLPA site has him listed at $850K for next season. NHLPA: Teddy Purcell

Thanks.

I wonder how long Bagnall's contract is... I'm assuming Azevedo gets the standard 3 year ELC... or maybe not since he was an overager?? I just find it odd that Bagnall was even qualified.

Well his salary last year was $850,000 ... Kings extended him the MQO right ? what was the break down again, or did that change ? don't they have to offer him 5 or 10% more or whatever it was if it's only a one year deal ?

Bagnall is strictly for Manchester I think, sort of like what we've seen in the past with the Kings retaining players like Richard Seeley or Joe Rullier, never once getting a look in the NHL.

I think Azevedo could compete for a spot on the team, if not this year, next year. He's a waterbug motoring up and down the ice. He has the drive and compete level that players of his size need to achieve success in the NHL. If he doesn't make it with the Kings I'm sure some team will take a chance at him. At worst he'll turn out to be like Eric Perrin.

Probably one-year for Bagnall.

Azevedo would be signing a three-year deal since he's signing his first entry-level contract at age 21.

Age 18 - 21 = 3 Years
Age 22 - 23 = 2 Years
Age 24 = 1 Year
Age 25+ = No required years and not restricted to entry-level limits on contract figures.

You are correct...his QO would be $895,000.....But I just think he is not worth that....So that is why I said $750K. Maybe Dean talked him down and said he would give him a 1-way deal????

Because his QO would be a 2-way deal....so if he goes to the AHL he gets significantly less.

Does that make sense?

Yep ... they did this with I think Harrold and someone else a year or two ago ... get them to sign a cheaper 1 way contract than what their MQO 2 way deal would have been since the Kings figured he'd not be in the AHL anyways ... so IF that's the case, yeah it's put up or shut up time for Purcell, OR just maybe a sign and trade for us to land Sturm or Sharp

Edit: Come to think of it ... wasn't it Richard Petiot 2 years ago ? the Kings somehow tendered him a QO, and yet got him to sign a cheaper Contract, yet kept him in the AHL, was it a 2 year deal ? I kinda thought if they only do up a 1 year 2-way Contract per the CBA it has to include the MQO adjustments, but 1-way and multi-year deals don't and can be adjusted.

Argh! Stop making work for me and my charts Deano!!!

Seriously though, I am very happy with the Azevedo signing, we are finally going to see what he can do in a Kings jersey sooner or later, and if he doesn't make it, he is an awesome AHL'er. Great Deal.

now you know why I gave up this year

But hey, at least the format / template you set up is easier to adjust than the multi-colored/font/size mess I made up the previous 2 years.

In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter? I mean this isn't your money we are talking about and it isn't like $200k is going to make a difference in regards to the CAP. Who knows maybe the extra money playing with the Kings will be enough to motivate him? More likely than giving him a one-way with a guaranteed $750k.

No it isn't my money....but the more money that Purcell makes the more that other tweener prospects coming through the ranks will want. If the cap drops that will drastically affect Dean's ability to sign or keep players. Should a guy with 50 career NHL games and 5 total goals make $1 million/year?

I think this completes all of our 2009 free agent acquisitions/re-signings. Only 6 free agents left: Calder, Armstrong, Gauthier, Dravecky, Murray, and Taylor. Onto the 2010 free agents - FROLOV! DO IT!
