Given my obvious incompetence in that regard, I find it highly unlikely Tony the moderating wizard on the other hand is another story...

I wasn't. My buddy today said it best (coincidentally, I read Telos write the same thing) - it was a "put up or shut up" deal. It's akin to taking a safety net away from the tight rope walker and saying "it's real now."

Heh, I gathered that, was just checking if you guys weren't just using them because they looked cool or represented a manner others should view you as

You guys watching any current series? I am currently caught up in Cross Game, but there isn't much else at the moment (I am not really much of a fan of the new FMA series). Perhaps you could recommend something? I am not much of an afficionado of the stuff, though I suppose you could argue I am slowly becoming one, but ever since a friend got me into Full Metal Alchemist a few years back I have been dabbling around here or there

I was just in LA a couple of weeks ago as I am a manager of programming operations for the Anime Expo which is held at the LACC every year at the beginning of July - that friend of mine got me the position originally in 2006 as something to do in the summer (free hotel room, food, etc etc...) as he is a member of the board of directors for the expo and I have been doing it every year since. So yeah, that is my brief history of the stuff somewhat, . Unless you count liking DBZ in middle school back in the late 90's lol...

I am finishing up Lucky Star, Claymore, and Witchblade right now.

Think I'm gonna grab Tenjou Tenge next.

Wow, you worked with Anime Expo? I went to my first one this year. Had a blast. lol My friend took a lot of pictures of the cosplayers. She had a great time too.

I would definitely recommend Gurren Lagann and Lucky Star right off the bat.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a classic, but also a mind job. Although the "rebuild" movies the director is making right now will make it less of a mind job. lol

I haven't seen Berserk.

Berzerks awesome. Anime that takes place in Medieval Europe. It was a anime series show in Japan. So it's like on 6 dvd's. The set put me down about 80$ but was worth it. Didn't know there were so many anime fans on hfboards here...

I too have not seen Berserk, but I definitely know and heard of Lucky Star, Gurren Lagann, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. I have seen bits of each, but haven't gotten around to either (so time consuming watching series per series ). I will get to those three eventually (probably Lucky Star first).

Anime I have watched somewhat recently off the top of my head:
Cross Game
Full Metal Panic
Full Metal Alchemist
Ichigo 100%
Jungle wa Itsumo Hale nochi Guu
Love Hina
Onegai Teacher
Onegai Twins
Ouran High School Host Club
Dragonball
Appleseed
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell

Ones that I am due to watch soon:
Eureka 7
Lucky Star
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Samurai 7

And that's all I can think of at the moment My favorite series so far being Full Metal Panic with Alchemist being a very close second. I always watch them in the original Japanese too (their voice actors are just so much more convincing than ours and I am a literate person so...). Currently reading the manga: Full Metal Panic Overload!

Yeah, it is a pretty fun job. I get in for free obviously, everything is paid for as well, get to see all the main events (a prog ops perk as our office overlooks the stage), check out all the crazy cosplayers, and I meet a lot of people in the industry. I meet all kinds of Japanese celebrities who, of course, I know nothing about and are just normal people to me, but it is interesting meeting them. The one highlight for me and the only person Americans would recognize was meeting Seth Green due to the expo having a Robot Chicken panel this year. That was interesting and fun. Boy that dude is short... Much shorter than I expected him to be lol.

I'll have to check that one out as well...
