Rangers Prospect #7

Derek Stepan was another easy winner last round, and Tomas Kundratek was the runaway winner to be added to the poll.

1. Artem Anisimov
2. Evgeny Grachev
3. Michael Del Zotto
4. Bobby Sanguinetti
5. Ryan McDonagh
6. Derek Stepan

Easy pick here, Gilroy.

We have one guy who hasn't even sniffed the NCAA level yet vs one guy who has dominated the NCAA and was named top player last season.

Has anyone actually seen Valent?

The big question with Valentenko isn't the talent but his commitment to playing in North America.

Anyway, this one is pretty easy. Gilroy was a beast with BU and could win a spot on the Rangers this year while Kreider hasn't even played a single game in the NCAA and is not even close to NHL ready.

Voted for Gilroy last round, here it is again.

By the way, major brainfart by yours truly in the prospect #6 thread with the whole best NCAA player thing

Kreider.

If we hadn't read somewhat negative reports from his first prospect training camp (which was mostly conditioning), he'd be running away with it already.

Add Boyle.

Sure but he did it as a 24/25 year old in an absurdly weak year for college hockey / college hockey talent. If you think Sangs/MDZ need to work on their defensive game...

Kreider for me based (obviously) on upside and what I saw from him when I watched him.

EDIT: Add Byers

Sure it might be as a 24/25 year old..but right now, hes by far the best prospect left...he's got good potential as well to be a good PP QB in the NHL.

I wish people would take into account that Gilroy switched to defense his freshman season. So, he may be 24, but in terms of development, he's much younger than that.

I like Dane Byers, but what I see as a lack of upside is what stops me from adding him now. He's more of a "sure thing" than a lot of these guys, but to me he's a good third liner.
