It also doesn't normally happen that people grow half a foot at such an old age. But he did and that matters in his case. I don't think he'd get this much money if he were expected to be a last pairing dman. Slats and the scouts must believe he's a top 4 dman.

Because Slats would never overpay to win a bidding war for a free agent!

Awards:
Boyle is a prospect. He has one more year of prospect eligibility under HF guidelines.

Hmmm, surprised that I am the only one who picked Werek.

I think he has more upside than Gilroy, but is less risky than Kreider in that he already plays an NHL style game. A gritty player that can score goals, with enough upside to be a solid second line player.

Its tough to take the guy that was picked in the second round over a guy that was picked in the first round a month ago...

I won't be buying into the Kreider hype until he proves he can perform at a better level than prep school.

I don't understand how Ranger fans, and the rangers org in general, seems to have forgotten about Sauer. The kid had an awesome season w/ the Pack and he is everything Ranger fans have been begging for. A big, hard hitting, lay it on the line classic defensemen.

Please don't get me wrong. I'm rooting for him. I'm just not counting on him.

Gilroy's late growth spurt doesn't change the fact that his accomplishments came against players much younger than himself and at the college level. I think Heikkenen might be a better prospect as a late bloomer because he performed in the Finnish Elite league against grown men, not boys.

As for the money Sather gave him, are you suggesting Sather is always good with money?
