Rangers Lines Poll 6 - 2nd Line RW

Rangers Lines/Depth Chart 2009-2010

Christopher Higgins - Brandon Dubinsky - Marian Gaborik
Sean Avery - Chris Drury - TBD
TBD - TBD - TBD
TBD - TBD - TBD

TBD - TBD
TBD - TBD
TBD - TBD

It was close, but Avery began to pull away at the end, so he wins LW2.

Who completes the 2nd Line? Pick your right wing.

Depending on the events of later this week, if a certain Russian player who will remain nameless happens to win any polls and subsequently becomes a free agent, we will re-poll that spot. If that spot is won by a player who has also won a spot, we'll also re-poll that spot as well.

Yup. Until he's off the team, it's Nik.

Mods, can we get these polls stickied? I think it would improve the amount of voters if we did. Thanks.

Accidentaly clicked on Zherdev, meant to go with Cally. IMO Zherdev is as good as gone, just hope we get something for him...

Definitely Callahan but Kotalik will be on the opposite wing, not Avery. He is a very good 3rd liner, not a 2nd liner.

I agree, but I still voted for Kotalik because IF Avery ends up with Drury, Kotalik needs to be with Drury IMO.

people said that when Avery was re-acquired that Tortorella would play Avery on the third line where he belonged, unlike Renney. yet when Avery was in the lineup he played top six minutes always.

I'd say that 45 points is average for a second liner. Both Callahan and Kotalik are capable of that. Good second liners put up 50 points and that's what I think we see from Cally this year. Avery probably puts up around the low 40s, which isn't bad when you consider his intangibles.

We have a bunch of good second liners. The problem is we only have one real first liner.

I 100% agree but Kotalik has chemistry with Drury, one has to think he was brought in to play with him and I would much rather see Callahan on that line over Avery.

Looking pretty close. Cally's lead has evaporated some.

the past three seasons Avery has been on pace for 47, 47, and 44 points. Callahan's career high is 40, and Kotalik has been around Avery's pace for the past three seasons.

Callahan is also 24 and getting better every year. Even though his scoring went down in the playoffs, he was scoring a ton under Torts at the end of the regular season. In the last 15 games, he put up 7-8-15. He won't come close to a point a game but I think he's a legit 50 point player next year. Out of Cally, Avery, and Kotalik, I'd say that Callahan is going to score the most next season. Either way, our second line is going to be good.
