No, Tanguay was never a center. He played wing his entire NHL career. He also played wing in jr. In fact, didn't he play wing in jr with Ladislav Nagy as his center for the Halifax Mooseheads?

I hope the Coyotes get him. He would be a perfect LW for Doan.

Tanguay gets a bum rap from many, but he was really good last season when in the lineup and healthy.

I don't know for sure, but I swear I read somewhere that he was a center in junior.

I know this isn't the most reliable link, but it does have other guys listed at junior positions that they never played in the NHL...

It seems to me that Tampa has five top six forwards in Lecavalier, St. Louis, Stamkos, Malone, and Prospal. That is a DAMN good top five. Why wouldn't Tanguay prefer to be a part of that group than ours? I would think that the possibility of being put on a line with Lecavalier and St. Louis would totally make his mind up. Could he be worried about have to compete for playing time, too much, with all of those established guys? Still, even if it hurts his minutes a bit, you'd think it would still be better for his numbers, no?

Im getting sick of all the ownership stuff... who knows how credible but at least its something different to talk about. Came across this today and it was posted this morning.
http://lowkey-hockey.blogspot.com/20...update_27.html

"Tanguay is waiting on a decision by the NHL on the Coyotes offer for his services. Phoenix has put in the best offer at this point and if the NHL approves the contract he will be playing in Phoenix. "

Nothing like the credibility of a blog but hey I'm hope it's true. Heck even a broken analog (yes I'm a nerd) clock is right twice a day.

The NHL can't, in good conscience, deny us a freaking scorer that we need so badly.

Good news, shady source.

On the other hand, he says this...

HOCKEY RUMORS AND MORE
I will slowly be posting more and more on this site. At the current time i only have time to post the more important trades or signings. I will not make up a rumor to get people visiting my site (as many others do).

Right along with such memorable lines like:

Another questionable source, that is simply more smoke. Whether or not it actually means fire, who the hell knows?

Here it is for those who don't want to click the twitter...

this has been a reliable source, and they say the same thing, if you want to check the reliability of this source, then check the stories that he has broken before they have been announced in the previous posts of theirs.

I really don't think it will be less than four million per year. At the same time, I don't think it will be more than four and a half per year. I'm thinking one or two years.

Of course, assuming all of this has any truth to it.

Guess I'll just keep waiting patiently all night to hear someone refute or confirm. Good thing I was gonna be up anyway.

Wow, I never actually thought this might happen.

I'd be surprised if DM goes above 2 years, especially since there is a bit of a risk factor with rumors of Tanguay being a locker room pest and his rough past in Calgary.

Agree completely. I think he could get $3 Million from a number of teams with a better shot at the Cup than Phoenix. We are going to have to overpay either in numbers or years if this is going to happen. $5 million over 3 years is hopefully high but I think it's closer than most.

I hope this turns out better than the Amonte fiasco.

I'm hoping for Maloney's sake that he's done a better job vetting Tanguay than he did Jokinen.
