Vinny to Leafs??

ok i was going through the online world and found this. The rumour was published on 25th of July. first of all there is no way kaberle and blake can fetch likes of Vinny there has to be one or more 1st rd has to be added and prospect.. well here is the link..
http://hockeytraderumors.com/article11632.html

Quote:
The biggest name on the trading block as you all know is Vinny Lecavalier of Tampa Bay. It has been widely speculated that he would soon be dealt, the only question is to where exactly.

Well ladies and gentlemen, you can end your speculation now!

When Brian Burke was hired to be the next GM of the Maple Leafs it was certain that this team was going to undergo a renaissance. His new team is pretty much complete and the team still has over $7 million in cap space.

The team is solid, better then last season's, but it still lacks some serious pizazz. That's where this latest rumor comes to play.

Our on-location reporter phoned me with the news as soon as possible. After finishing an interview with a worker inside the Leafs organization who spoke on the condition of anonymity, he had what he was looking for.

Brian Burke and the Leafs are making a serious push for Vinny Lecavalier.

Lecavalier is due to make $10 million ($7.73 million on the cap) this season and with only $7 million available, it puts the Leafs in a bit of a tight situation. It gives them no room to maneuver. That is why the Kaberle trade rumors made so much sense to us here at the Hockey Rumor Mill.

Very soon both Kaberle and (most likely) Blake will be dealt to make room for the big name acquisition in Lecavalier. We are certain Blake will end up with St. Louis.

The conversations have been carrying out for days now and we are only certain that a deal will happen before August.

Burke would literally need to be a Jedi to get Tampa to pull the trigger on that.

That doesn't even say Kaberle and Blake would be traded for Vinny, just that they'd move them to make room. Who is going to to Tampa then? I think you could take every player in the Leafs organization and offer them up to the Lightning and they would be better off sticking with Lecavalier.

Whether or not there's any merit to this particular rumor, if Oren Koules doesn't want Lecavalier, and control is ceded to him, just because Vinny has a NTC, doesn't mean he won't agree to waive it.

Vinny's contract makes his value very, very low.

I guess you haven't heard that we signed Obi Wan Kenobi as Head of Player Acquisitions an hour ago. We stick him in a room other GMs and they give us whoever we want.

Vinny is an overpaid player.

Trust me, Tampa is in such dire straights financially, it won't take much to get rid of Vinny. He's about to start a new 10 year contract and be paid till he's 40. No team wants to touch that contract.

Even Gainey, despite all the pressure didn't want to take on that contract.

no. believe it or not, Vinny has more than 1 friend in the locker room. This same thing was said when Richards and Boyle left. No ones forcing him to be here. If he wanted to leave or if management wanted to trade him, it would have happened already.

Koules and Barrie both have to agree on big trades, like ones involving Lecavalier, so it doesn't matter if one wants to trade him. Also he has a NMC not a NTC.

Yes it's very possible that Vinny can go to Toronto. Vinny Prospal that is.

Pretty sure most teams would be willing to move a few guys to make room for one of the best players hands down in the League. His contract isn't hindering people from looking at Vinny.

While it may not take what everyone thinks it will to get Vinny, that's due to how trades work these days, not Vinny's value being low, much less very, very.

I think having food poisoning is more enjoyable than reading the crap that hockey "insiders" spew out this time of year. I can't wait for next season.

Agreed....Unless Leafs are giving us Schenn, Kadri 2010 1st ++ It isn't going to happen. I know leaf fans are going to throw there arms up in the air and start shouting at me, but its the truth. Leaf's wont do it, so the Bolts wont even consider it. Vinny will retire with the lightning.
