There is considerable change on the Tampa Top 20 list after some trades and the 2009 draft.

Luca Cunti and Riku Helenius out of the Top-20? What happened to them?

We have a much brighter future than we did a couple years ago that for sure, I kind of get the feeling whoever made this list isn't all that familiar with all the prospects though.

I have to say I learned something about Karsums that just blew my mind though, he is by far the youngest player in the organization

Luca Cunti did ok in juniors, but he's softer than a pillow. Helenius? Who knows. He was very good in Norfolk, but struggled a bit in the ECHL(it seems his AHL time is largely ignored and the ECHL stats are the only thing focused on). I know who probably had a big input on his ranking.

I think Panik is too high but is still one of the top 6 or 7. After the top 7, it's almost like the names were picked out of a hat. Of course this is with the HF system of rating prospects which is confusing to begin with.

I agree with the picked out of a hat statement, I thought it was really bizarre that they had Wishert after Mihalek, and I laughed at Matt Lashoff's mean streak. I love Lashoff but he doesn't have a mean streak, especially not one that is mean enough to win him a spot on the club, his skating however might. Karsums was too high as well, his skating is really likely to be too much of a detriment for him to make it in the NHL.

Also thank you for posting the top 20 list, I really do appreciate it even if I'm a total jerk about how you put your list together.

Just a couple things for me..first I think Harju is way too low. And I'm not sure how Mihalik is that high. To me I think Wishart and Quick have both moved past him. Those are my two only big complaints...otherwise a good list.

I'm very concerned because so many of our top 10 prospects have been in the NHL already...

Ramo should be swaped for Helenius in their list, like so:

1. Victor Hedman, D – 9.0C
2. Carter Ashton, C – 7.5C
3. Richard Panik, C - 7.5D
4. Matt Lashoff, D – 7.5C
5. Dana Tyrell, C – 7.0C
6. Dustin Tokarski, G – 7.0C
7. Riku Helenius, G
8. Vladimir Mihalik, D – 7.0C
9. Ty Wishart, D – 7.0C
10. Martins Karsums, RW- 6.5C
11. Steve Downie, C – 7.0C
12. Paul Szczechura, C – 6.5C

I'm going to assume the writer made a typo even if he didn't...

I think anyone that has been on these boards long enough know that I was one of Ramo's biggest supporters. After he left us to play in the KHL though.....**** him.

First question are you allergic to the letter B?

Secondly Helenius is gone?

Thirdly Mihalik that high? And Wishart that low? Wishart IS going to make the NHL, it is a question of how good he is. Where as Mihalik needs to improve big time to make it. I would like to know the reasoning for putting Mihalik above Wishart if you would?

at Hedman being a C. Really? Thats awesome.

I stopped reading there. Once again it seems whoever does the rankings and the lists doesnt know much about Lightning prospects. Surprise surprise.

Also, I like the part where Karsums and Mihalik are higher than Downie. That was cute.

As for the others on the list I think everybody covered it.

I'm surprised that Panik is so high, as well as how low Hutchings is.

List is a joke.

Not funny joke.

LOL joke. The type that you point and give a good old hearty "HA HA".

Nelson from Simpsons says hi. Yuck, how bad can these rankings get.

Edit: Under Graduated on the right side... D Alexandre Picard hasn't been a member of the team for about an entire year now.

7 - Second line forward / No. 3-4 defenseman / journeyman No. 1 goaltender -- players not quite good enough to play on the top line or pairing on a regular basis, but still possessing enough talent to contribute offensively, defend with some authority, or competently play the goaltender's position for long stretches. Think Andrew Cassels, Jason Arnott, Darryl Sydor, Keith Carney, Dwayne Roloson, Jeff Hackett.

C - May reach potential, could drop 2 ratings - has shown some flashes, but may ultimately not have what it takes to reach his potential. The potential rating is multiplied by 80 percent for depth chart purposes to show the uncertainty of a player reaching his potential.

I think that they did a pretty good job with the ratings. Panik all the way down to Downey are all probable to play in the NHL for years, but likely won't reach there potential to be a second line player.

Tyrell, Karsums, Downey and Szczechura will likely be third line players. Mihalik and Wishart are going to likely be 3-4 defensemen in the NHL.

The only guarantee is Hedman.

I think Hedman should be a 8B though.

Mihalik is much more likely to be playing in the KHL than NHL after next season.

That's good because those rankings are really terrible. I'd have a problem with it if I were you though, I'd want full control over the article if it says it was written by me. If faceless editors do the rankings and you just fill in a paragraph about each player it doesn't make me change my feeling that BP is the place to go for prospect rankings and to simply ignore anything from hf though.

Here's the list from boltprospects.com. I thought it was a little more accurate. Plus Downie and Harju were really underrated in the last rankings.

Victor Hedman
Matt Lashoff
Steve Downie
Ty Wishart
Carter Ashton
Richard Panik
Dana Tyrell
Johan Harju
Dustin Tokarski
Riku Helenius
Alex Hutchings
Paul Szczechura
Mitch Fadden
Martins Karsums
Vladimir Mihalik
Alex Killorn
Radek Smolenak
Kevin Quick
Blair Jones
Luca Cunti
James Wright
Juraj Simek
Mark Barberio
Lauri Tukonen
Matt Marshall
