After all, playoffs notwithstanding, it seems to me that 26-16-4 with Zubov (35 points in 46 games) is somewhat better than the 19-15-3 without him.

Of course Dallas is a better team with Zubov. However, I don't think last season was simply a product of Zubov's absence. Other key players like Morrow, Lehtinen, Ott, and others were gone for signifigant amounts of time. The Avery debacle. Plus, Turco having his worst season of his career. Despite all of that, the Stars were actually 5th in the West before Richards broke his wrist and the wheels basically fell off.

The 2007-2008 season, the Stars made the playoffs without Zubov for the latter half of the season.

CraigCustance on Twitter: "Got confirmation from Sergei Zubov's agent that he's close to signing with KHL team."

Meanwhile Sport-Express.ru confirms 2 years contract for Zubov > http://news.sport-express.ru/2009-07-30/313620/

Because he wants to finish up his career in his homeland? What's the difference between this and Forsberg playing in the SEL?

Yeah, I'll never respect people who will do what's best for them and their families. People who want to be close to home and earn more money are dicks.

I don't know....i really don't see Zubov playing in Russia, i think he gave up on the country as a whole after some one in the Russian Hockey Federation banged his wife.

It's sad to see him go. I despise the Stars with all my heart and soul, but Zubov has still always been a favorite of mine. One of the most under-appreciated players of this era.

It says that Zubov signed 2 year contract with CKA Saint Petersburg and he supposed to show up in Russia on August 12th.

I'm sure a lot of NHL teams wanted him on a one-year incentive laden deal but I sure can't blame the guy for taking two years and guaranteed money to play in his homeland than to play here.
