no mention of a curry signing on the penguins site, the PG, the trib, either wilkes-barre paper, etc. the guy who runs that site basically gets signing news secondhand from other news sources, so i have no idea where he got that.

hopefully he's right... it's just odd. can't remember that site actually breaking news of a signing at any point this summer.

I don't think they put rumours out there... I'm off from work regardless. I'll be home in an hour so hopefully you will have solved this mystery for me in that time

I think this is great if true. WBS should be a contender for the Calder this season. He may or may not be the answer for the back up job to Fluery but he has surely proven himself at the AHL level.

Well... I have no idea why Curry would merit 1 million yet. Of course he won't actually get that until next year at the earliest, but in that case too I will prefer to have a cheap vet behind Fleury.
This of course is far from impossible with this deal either. Would just mean keeping Curry on AHL wages in the AHL and having him on RFA again in two years.

Thread title is misleading. The contract listed there says 2 years @ 500k, for a total of 1 million.

It's the same deal he played for the past two seasons although he may have gotten a bump up in AHL salary. I believe he was getting 50 grand in WBS.

Considering what we've lost this offseason, I'm glad Curry re-signed. Even if he's in Pitt...at least we will have Berkhoel again, who is very capable of stealing games here and there. But I guess at this point Brent Johnson is likely to be in Pitt and Curry here.

Good, if true.
He had kinda down season, last year, considering the previous, but has some talent and has room to progress. We need a third goalie, anyways.

I'm assuming it's a two-way contract, isn't it?

he may never be a starting nhl goalie but he has proven to be a good ahl goalie and he can play a few games if we need him to so not a bad signing to me

This signing has already been confirmed but the PG had an article today about Curry.

For 500K, there's nothing to complain about. Good depth signing.
