"I was happy to get drafted, but people take that to an extreme too much," Wellwood said.

"Getting drafted doesn't mean you're going to the NHL. That's simplistic.

"I'm happy my hard work was recognized, but now I don't care about getting drafted. I have a big season ahead of me."

About the Prospect Camp:

"There were guys from the AHL and East Coast League there," Wellwood said. "It was eye-opening.

"Until I experienced it, I had no sense of what to expect.

"I'm always one of the players in the best shape here, but I realize how much hard work I have ahead of me."

From an interview clip I saw, his team was so far in last place he walked haha. So who knows, maybe he really is in awesome shape but we didn't get to see because his team was so bad. Doesn't speak too well that he walked though haha.

Go back and read the whole article. I like his humble attitude. He realizes getting drafted means nothing, that there is a lot of hard work ahead of him. He doesn't 'expect' to make the NHL, he expects to have to keep working his butt off in competition with a bunch of other guys determined to make it.
