That is just a brutal comparison.
I'm not comparing the accomplishments of these 2 players. I'm just trying to give a reason why there can be such support for a relative unknown in this poll. The comparison was just an example of an unknown entity doing well as a NY Ranger very quickly. Maybe just the few facts people knew like his 3rd highest pts for a defencemen in his league of men or the fact that he is a abrasive defencemen not afraid to mix it up or just the plain fact that he's older might make a voter choose an unwatched unknown rather than a younger kid who plays in a younger league on this side of the Atlantic. After all how 'well known' are the rest of these kids in this poll to the majority of these voters on this board. I believe it's mostly heresay. Maybe these facts, blostered by the good positive experience of a Lundqvest, might be a reason why people voting here are willing to take a chance on an unknown. Maybe!

Tom Preissing

These all look like they went straight to the NHL from NCAA and aren't high round 1st like JJ or EJ. If we ended up with a Leopold as the #6 defenseman, I'd be happy.

Is it worth having a run-off vote for the top 2 in this poll for the 6th or leave it at that?

I think it's pretty clear, so we can leave it. I'm really surprised that everyone is all about Heikkinen without having ever seen him, but to each his own.

Why would you! The leader has 50% more votes than the 2nd place guy.

If Del Zotto looks good in camp and the preseason, how many games can he play for the Rangers before they have to maker a decision on keeping him or returning him to Juniors?

picked Heikkinen but it is a real tough call and depends on camp

reason for the pick is that he is big, more mature at 25 and more physical than the others

I look at Sanguinetti not being rushed and one more year in Hartford with some call ups this year

Sauer would of been my close 2nd to make it. stil 21 though and he could get a look too

Thinking if Potter is 25 and has not had a chance he may never be more than a fill in 7th. If they carry 7 he would be my pick though cause of his age

I see DelZotto capatin of the London Nights for one year then he is up like Staal was next yr

I wonder how many people who voted for Heikkinen have actually seen him play? To have him tied with a guy like Gilroy, I could understand (both being older and unproven in NA pro hockey). But to have them both ahead of Sauer baffles me. We've seen Sauer, we know what we're getting with Sauer, Gilroy and Heikkinen are both going based off of hopefulness. I do hope that they both work out, but realistically, they're two big questionmarks.

I expect he'll impress in camp again, he'll get his 10 and go back to Jrs, just like Staal. The only way that changes is if Sangs, Heikkinen, and Gilroy show that they're completely incapable or if MDZ is insanely stellar. It's a lot easier for a forward to force the hand to keep him in the pros (like Jordan Staal did), but defensemen don't score goals nearly as often.

Would you guys have any interest in a 3rd pairing guy like Lukowich?

Thanks.

Maybe we keep Del Zotto (if he looks like he might be NHL-ready) and see how he does for 10 games, and see which guy looks the best in Hartford in case Del Zotto is deemed to be better off with another year in Juniors after ten games.

Slightly different circumstances but still pretty similar, I think.
Oh ok, i see...

Well hey. Lets hope the same happens for Gilroy.

But im far from convinced right now given that we havent even seen the guy play on NHL ice.
