Kundratek should be in Sauer's place.

No - because Doyle was our second leading scorer among prospects last year for much of the year (prior to getting injured) plus he also hits and fights. He's also reportedly a bit of a headcase and the injury remains a question until he proves that he has overcome it, but at around #20 in the rankings, that's just fine.

Besides, you never can have enough micks.

I don't get why Zaborsky. He's a very solid player ... in the ECHL. If he put up 28 points in 47 games in the AHL, I could see picking him at this point.

But someone who scores so few points while being 5-11 180 is just not a legit prospect. Zab has a long way to go before he can be called a star in the AHL. At this point, he only played 8 games, netting 3 points. If he can establish himself as an AHL second liner this year, then we can rank him in the top 20. But I think at this point, he should be more with projects in the 25-30 range. He's nowhere near our top 20.

Zaborsky really struggled in his ECHL stint with Charlotte. He didn't get along well with coach Wilkinson, who was asking Zaborsky to turn back his offensive game in an effort to focus on defensive responsibility and positioning. Once all parties involved realized it was not a good situation, he was traded to Dayton--and had 10 goals in 19 games.

It's never really been a question of his offensive skills, IMO...more so would he ever develop a frame and physical nature capable of handling the rigors of the pro game in North America. I, for one, think he can, and that he'll surprise a lot of people in Hartford this year. I think he still has quite a bit of upside left. The chances of him reaching it are obviously slim, but I think having him around 20 or so is proper.

And FWIW, Zaba is my next to be added. I had to prove to people in one of the last polls that he was even considered a prospect. I was the only one pushing for him for a while!

He fits the HF criteria for a prospect. We discussed it a few polls back.

Boyle.

Is Heikkinen eligible to be added? He's 25 like Potter, Boyle, Gilroy. If not Heikkinen add Dupont.

So many guys I'd put ahead of Zaborsky it's not even funny. Everybody currently up to be voted on + Dupont, Owens, Weise, Campbell, Doyle, Crowder, Soryal, Johnson, Zaba and Dowzak. Maybe even Wiikman, Gaulton and Baranka. He and Hillier aren't even in the AHL--very slim possibility either will make it to the NHL.

Zaborsky was promoted to the AHL last season. He played 8 games recording a goal and 2 assists before hurting himself. He'll be in the AHL this year as well.

Heikkinen is a prospect by HF standards. I'd have to say he's an oversight at this point. I'd imagine he'd be up there by now considering so many people expect him to make the team this year.

Even so on Zaborsky--1) not a point a game player in the ECHL when his biggest asset is offense. As well 2) he's small and for him to make it as a Ranger someday with those 2 qualifications he's going to have to be a top 6 player and that just does not look in the cards.

Comparing him to say someone like Jordan Owens who also spent some time in the ECHL--is only a little bit bigger but has tremendous speed and Callahan type grit and who could be much more realistically an energy player somewhere towards the bottom of your forward group is IMO a much better bet. I just can't see how Zaborsky leapfrogs all these guys who have already proven they can stick at a higher level.

It's just my opinion. I think Zaborsky has a tremendous amount of skill and I think it's going to show in the AHL this season. He's my sleeper pick, if you will. I understand it's an unpopular opinion, but it's still mine.

The fact that Corry Potter, an NHL ready defender is outside of our top 10 makes me very happy about the future of this franchise!

Heh, I was just thinking with Boyle being the next guy coming up...

... this list is a pretty good one, but a full 1/3 of the top 15 will hopefully be considered to be graduated by the time we do another one of these.

Boyle is a beast in NHL 09 and has an A potential rating.
