I'm not expecting the Oilers to make any moves at all from here on out...maybe then Tambo will surprise me and make those big changes that he talked about

I like that Staois + Schremp idea.

I think that guys like Nilsson and Staios have no trade value until trade deadline of the final year of their contracts, and that Schremp has absolutely zero value until the end of this year's training camp (should he shoot the lights out in TC), where some GM might part with a late-round pick in order to snag him before waivers come into effect.

And I doubt that Sather will dump Zherdev for our cast-offs.

Let's be real, people.

I'm not usually one to play into those "Once an Oiler, Always an Oiler" theories, but Sather DID apparently pull what was essentially a done deal with the Sens for Heatley out of principle because he thought it was bad faith by Murray and because he didn't want to see Lowe or the Oilers hurt by the publicity...

No chance in hell would I trade anyone of value for Zherdev. That means no Smid, and no draft picks. If the Rangers want someone who might help them but also is a salary dump for the Oilers (ie. Nilsson, etc), then fine. Otherwise, I want nothing to do with Zherdev.

I saw this link over at the general free agent talk board. This Maple Leaf blogger says Zherdev enjoys being the centre of attention, and that he wants to be looked upon as the go-to guy.
IF he were to come here, I think fans could arrange that
Tell him we have a microscope with a VIP table and a no waiting policy in Oilerville for a guy willing to put up with that.

I am not so sure. The rumours are that Zherdev at this kind of price is a Ranger cast off. A bag of pucks for a roll of tape kind of deal may work ...

What is the time limit for the Rangers, before he becomes a free agent? Something is telling me 72 hours, but that sounds fairly short.

From a Ranger POV I would go with Nilsson and Nash for Zherdev...if you want a low prospect or pick then that can be arranged too.

Hmmm....I don't suppose you'd be willing to take Staois instead of Nash ?

Unloading both Nilsson and Staios is kind of like a childhood dream come true.

Excellent. It's been a boring couple of weeks; this should liven things up a bit.

I'd care if there's any interest in Pouliot from the Rangers

The Oilers have some business to take care of and, while the Heatley thing may have slowed them down, it would appear they decided more than a week ago to go in a different direction. I wonder if something else is brewing.

Pouliot and Brule wouldn't seem to hinge on that deal.

I would have to completely agree with you 100%

I guess I look at this from the point of view that we should not have to give up much to get him, If no other team makes an offer for him and if no one else is interested in making a trade with the Rangers for him then they virtually loose him for nothing, the way I look at it is something is better than nothing. So I would expect a deal like the ones made for Pending UFA's at the trade deadline.

Schremp and Staois I would do! That is better than nothing and they need another D and Schremp would do well there I think.
