1. I don't think the Flyers can afford this, if they even wanted to.

2. Claude Giroux? Really? You thought this would be a good proposal?

3. *******

4. We don't have a 2nd for like 2 years.

5. *******

I highly doubt that the Flyers bite on that one. They might want to unload some top end salary but Giroux is cheap and has shown some great upside so there's no reasons for them to move him.

Aside, they don't have the cap space to take on Plekanec if I'm not mistaken, and they already have too many centers as it is.

Montreal drafted David Fischer 20th overall in 2006, and Giroux was drafted 22nd overall, he was still a pretty highly touted prospect, his size being the biggest problem.

I think he was deliberately passed over at the time because he wasn't what the habs needed at the time, and he didn't fit the mold of what we were looking for in a winger. And though the team has changed very much in the past couple years, I think that, as good as Giroux is, the Canadiens wouldn't trade for him.

That being said I still believe this deal is lopsided, the Flyers would want much more for him, and it wouldn't be worth it for the Habs.

Philly has enough C depth, but are lacking good wingers. Plus he is on ELC for two more years, something that is invaluable because of the cap.
Philly also has a logjam on D so that they don't need a #7 D for close to 1 mil. They already have overpaid D in Carle and Jones.

And next time look at the cap hits. This deal worsens the cap situation in Philly.

So a big no from the Flyers. Next time try to think before posting.

I hate fanboys who make trade proposals for players just because of their name and native language. Most of the time it ends up being terrible offers like this and it makes all Habs fans look like idiots.

Philly won't trade a young, cheap promising forwards that they own his rights for many years to come for a more expensive, pending UFA Plekanec and O'Byrne(who has absolutely 0 value until he shows that he can get back to his level of 2 years ago). Never mind that for some unknown reason MTL would get an upgrade in picks.

Maybe we as fans should just start maintaining lists of players for whom trade offers are unrealistic.

...on the other hand, that means that folks like this will start talking about how, say, Yannick Weber will never be moved, or how Mikhail Grabovski is untouchable, or whatever.

Most proposals involving the Habs or the Flyers are brutal. Proposals between the two of them are a special kind of dumb. This is no different.

The funky trade proposal forum is great to have a good laugh. I just can't think of "why" the Flyers would do this, any proposal sending Giroux to the Habs would HAVE to include Subban or another top prospect going the other way. Why the hell would they want O'Byrne? I'm pretty sure the OP wants Giroux because he incorrectly thinks he's a Quebecer anyways, theres no point in trying to trade for elite prospects breaking in the NHL since this is when their value is at their highest.

The Flyers have ZERO reason to trade Giroux. They have no real weakness, except perhaps goaltending which we'll find out about soon enough, and as such are not going to trade a young cheap player with such high upside.
