Marleau, Cheechoo, Lukowich for Heatley and a 3rd.
Do it, DW! We're gonna be riiiiiich!!!
But it's not gonna happen. Although I don't see why Marleau is so stubborn. He has only one year left in his contract; he can leave Ottawa next year, leave his family in SJ.
edit: BTW - http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=286562 . Let it not be a first round pick, Dougie. And I don't want to part with Error either.
Hmmm, Keeping Milan over Marleau would cater to the assumption that hes going to improve even more.

It seems highly likely that Michalek is going to continue to improve. He's improved his game every year he's been the league. He got beat on RW for not being as good defensively or physically as he should be. Both of those things have improved significantly in the last 2 years. Meanwhile, his offensive production stayed relatively flat despite being dropped from JT's line to playing with a less skilled, and still young, Pavelski. Add in the Michalek is just turning 24 and to think his skill has capped out at this point seems very unlikely.

Yeah, I just cant see logic in giving up Milan/Marleau to bring in Heatley who might be a good player but.. has character issues. Also the sharks will be losing defense no matter what if not in forwards than defense and thats not acceptable.

you dont give up both, you give up one or the other and due to cap restrictions, it keeps looking like patty.
That said, it seems like DW is trying to get a deal done that keeps Patty in teal.

I presume there were calls made, and probative discussions had but who knows if any of this is at all active. That said, if DW decided with his 'autopsy' that Marleau is one of the problems - it would make sense to deal him or, bring in someone like Heatley with a long contract to replace Patty next year. Either make sense but I wish something would get resolved so we have something to talk about. I may have to start watching baseball pretty soon.
do i have to pick from just these two?? Given that we don't have a cap problem and don't lost any top prospects or picks i'd take Kessel over heater for sure.
Heater comes with problems/baggage which i'd not want on or around the team.
What kind of money is Patty likely to resign for? Is it possible that Wilson has negotiated a much better cap number for PM in return for not pushing him on the NTC? If PM would sign for Michalek's money does it make MM more expendable?

No, it makes Milan more valuable because you can keep all the top flight speed and still have money to sign other people
