No, the "VANCOUVER" across the chest screams Vancouver. Take that part off the jersey and I'm happy.

Linden will take over

Soon we'll see "Trevor Linden Afro night" and "LINDEN" replacing the "VANCOUVER" on our jerseys.

Slowly but surely Linden's face will replace the constipated orca.

Put a line on the bottom of the 7 and make it into a big Z. Keep it up. Nevar forget the horrors that Z hath wrought.

Honestly, I'm imagining Linden getting this job. It's been a year since he retired, maybe he's ready for the role? Yzerman would be pretty sweet too...maybe that'll happen so he can stay close to Team Canada during the Olympics or something related to that nature or something.

I don't see why Linden would get this job. A president and CEO is responsible for the business side of running a hockey team. Trevor Linden does not have a business background so it would make little sense to hire him for that role.

A more likely candidate might be Bob Nicholson.

.
I think its clear that the gaggle of lawyers and MBA's that the NHL employ's simply do not understand how to market the game.

Time to start hiring people that love, breathe and know the game, and why its the best. Im positive if you gave the posters on HF 1/100th of the budget the marketers for the NHL had, you could come up with about 13,256 commercials that were far better than the ones the NHL produced since the lockout.

Perhaps Linden isn't the best candidate, because I agree with you, he should have some background in business. Linden however, should be brought into this management team in a small roll where he can gain a good education on team operations.

That said, Linden could be black balled from management in the NHL...

Well said. Give Linden another role like Director of Community Relations, definitely NOT the position of president and CEO.

I'm glad he's gone. Zimmerman seemed to be too much of a suit who was not connected with the fanbase. Would be absolutely amazing if we could get Bob Nicholson for the job though, although I won't hold my breath. Would not be at all surprised to see one of Aquilini's buddies given this job though, but here's to hoping...

Claiming Zimmerman is a "suit" who is not connected to the game/fans and then hoping Bob Nicholson gets hired...

Those jerseys are beautiful. Only the Canucks could screw up something so simple.

Hopefully they hire someone local who has a profile in the community but also has the requisite experience to do the job well.

Linden would not be on that list, but some token job with community relations like the Lions gave Lui Passaglia might not be a bad idea to slowly get him into the business side of hockey.

That's not true at all. Buffalo and the Islanders screwed up their jerseys equally as bad.

I thought I was the only one who loved the vintage Islanders and Sabres looks.

Perhaps, then, it would be best to hire Linden as VP of Marketing/Public Relations (or something to that effect).

I don't see him as President and CEO just yet.

Meh, I might get roasted for this, but within the context of an NHL club, president and CEO can be pretty much ceremonial. They fly under the radar and having nothing to do with the day to day player movement. Their decisions rarely receive the same attention as the smallest wire waiver acquisition. Plus, with this owner, I imagine there is a lot of string pulling.

I could see them give one of the positions to Linden and another to someone with a marketing background to shelter him. Linden does have some very relative, although limited, business experience and he's very media savvy. He would bring more passion than many other 'more qualified' people and he should be the face of this franchise.

In before Wetcoaster trash job.
