I guess that's a no-brainer. His cap hit is just under $900,000 with 1 year left. He's not a long term commitment. As an experiment, it's not a bad idea. I guess.

I just can't help thinking he's going to be Avery 2.0. Without the points.

Cote is all heart but he loses most of his fights....The Islanders are looking for a tough guy so they could prob peddle him over there and upgrade with Ivanans.

Carcillo for Ivanans straight up would be a steal for the Kings. However, look at it from a Flyer's perspective. That would essentially mean that Ivanans is worth Upshall and a pick. If I were a Flyer's fan and they made that deal, I would be PISSED.

It's a sunk cost and doesn't really matter going forward. They have Laperriere now and are in somewhat of a "win-now" mode with their salary structure and movement of youth for Pronger.

Carcillo is a RFA after this season and I believe Ivanans is UFA so no big deal there. I still think that LA would have to throw in a pick, say 4th round, to make it happen. Carcillo has more talent but he's also a nut job. Pittsburgh points to the fight he had with Talbot in turning around that game and igniting their Cup run...Lappy would not have picked a fight in that situation with his team winning like Carcillo did. Since they care about "now" and have Lappy signed for $1.1mm for the next 3 years, it would not be shocking to see him moved.

Those are fair points. I just know how we like to track assets. I also am friends with a few Flyers fans would be really pissed about the Carcillo trade when it happened. They thought of Upshall as a big part of the heart and soul of the team. Atleast Carcillo is an entertaining consolation prize. Ivanans is just Ivanans. Though who knows, I could also see 'The Terrible' finally really coming out of Ivan in Philly.

As for value, I definately think we would need to ATLEAST add a 4th, if not a 3rd or a prospect.

I was just reading the Philly board and they would really like to get rid of Jones and his $2.75mm salary cap hit. You've got to pay to play if your Philly and Carcillo could be the "premiuim" they have to pay to rid themselves of Jones's contract. Laperriere fills Carcillo's spot with substantially less crazy thrown in.

PHI: Raitis Ivanans

LA: Randy Jones, Daniel Carcillo

There is a "veteran" defenseman that some are speculating DL is looking for, Ivanans' exit paves the way for the newly minted Westgarth and Carcillo enters the competition for the 3rd LW spot. Kings become infinitely harder to play against and pick up an asset that was just acquired for a legit NHL player (Upshall) and a 2nd round pick. If Jones is terrible, he can roll as the #7 in the press box or play in Manchester where he would definitely help.

DD/Greene
JJ/Scuderi
OD/Jones
Drewiske

I'd be more comfortable with the #7 being Jones or Drewiske as opposed to Harrold. He'd be this season's Gauthier for all intents and purposes

Philly "pays" LA to take Jones but can afford to lose Carcillo with Laperriere and Asham around. Ivanans gives them a legit heavy to back up any shenanigans that the rest of the Flyers will engage in. It frees up cap space for them to operate with during the season in case they want to upgrade at the trade deadline.

Maybe LA would haveto throw in a Peter Harrold so Philly wouldn't be losing depth on their blueline. He could be attractive since he only makes $500k.

You know what... I like it. Especially the part where Harrold goes the other way. Just let Jones walk at the end of the season or stuff him in the minors at the deadline to free up space for a better soon to be UFA for the playoff push.

Ivanans for Jones/Carcillo makes a ton of sense. It helps both teams, and Jones can walk after this coming season, which frees a spot for a rookie who might be ready. It gives us a ton of options, let's Westgarth try and prove himself to be a heavyweight regular NHLer (he can fight, but not sure if he's good enough skater for the NHL, but I've only seen a bit from him).

Out of curiosity...

Is english your second language or are you morally opposed to grammar?
