The National Hockey League has designated Wednesday, March 3 as the 2010 trade deadline, Sportsnet has learned.
The NHL is closing for a two week period in February to allow their stars to compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics, and the deadline is set for three days after the Games conclude in Vancouver. Link
I think it should be atleast a week after the Olympics, rather than just 3 days..Might not be enough time for things to happen in quantity, but who knows..
A full 82 game schedule is still being played right? that's the reason they are starting the season so early was so they could fit in all of them as well as the Olympics i assume
I always book it off. I don't hide why I'm taking certain days off. My boss knows, I take off the trade deadline, the draft, and July 1st.
agreed, my manager is a hockey fanatic, last year i told him i'm taking a personal day on the last trade deadline... his response? "ya, i'll be watching the trade deadline too". I actually came in on draft day to watch the draft with my manager and shift manager. July 1st i asked for an afternoon shift... all the big deals are usually done by 4:00

this will be my upcoming 9th in a row i've taken off. Living in the U.S. I still have to explain why it's so important to be off this day to most of my coworkers.
