As long as there is any HOPE that this organization will stay in Phoenix....then I will support them fully. Abandoning them now will do nothing toward keeping them here.

This from the Associated Press:

PHOENIX (AP) — A U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge is ordering the owner of the Phoenix Coyotes to show why he should not be held in contempt of court.
Judge Redfield T. Baum ordered Jerry Moyes, his wife Vicki and their attorneys on Tuesday to appear at a show-cause hearing on Wednesday. The Moyes' and their attorneys are accused of violating the confidentiality order issued by the judge in the exchange of information between parties in the team's bankruptcy case.
Moyes' filing last Friday included details of negotiations between potential buyer Jerry Reinsdorf and the city of Glendale.

Yeah I just came here to post that. Finally some good news... I hope Baum fries that little scum Moyes to a crisp.

I'm afraid you are on to something. Worst case he wrist slaps the attorneys.

Best case he slams JM with a fine and precludes him from all negotiation processes between the city and bidders until a final deal is hammered out that he can object to.

If we've learned anything about Judge Baum it is that he despises "show," slapping down any side that tries to make this more of a circus than it already is.

Court was just to handle scheduling, nothing important. Did any other STH get the latest mailing from Dewey Hockey LLC?

Coyotes owner's hearing delayed

"A U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge on Wednesday delayed a hearing on whether to find the owner of the Phoenix Coyotes and his lawyers in contempt of court for publicly filing documents that were supposed to be kept confidential.

Judge Redfield T. Baum also said that he plans to rule later in the day on whether Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie can participate in a Sept. 10 auction for the team.

Balsillie is offering to buy the Coyotes for $212.5 million and move the team to Hamilton, Ontario. That deal would give owner Jerry Moyes about $100 million.

His offer is opposed by the NHL and the city of Glendale, who want to keep the team in the Phoenix suburb.

A group led by Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf has offered $148 million to buy the team and keep it in Glendale."

well it was discussed in court that perhaps this mailing is an attempt to "freak out" STH to rescind their deposits and sand bag the JR offer.

Perhaps? Even to a layman like me, it's pretty damn obvious what it is. Anyone with any interest in keeping the team here shouldn't even dignify that mailing with any type of response until it's clear that the team will not be here.

Bickley: Coyotes saga just gets uglier
Quote:
The new information also tarnishes the story's white knight. Many desperate fans believed Reinsdorf to be a premium catch, a highly credible owner who would ride in with his championship rings and straighten out the mess in no time.

No doubt the man is sharp, shrewd and well-connected. But in this case, Reinsdorf is like the shark that drifted into the kiddie pool.

It appears Reinsdorf wanted a hockey team with no money down, major financial assistance in the first five years and escape clauses in the near future.
Very encouraging article.

I'm not much liking the Reinsdorf deal myself to be honest. But I guess it's too much to ask for a real white knight to save a franchise in this big of a pile of steaming dung.

I'm liking Reinsdorf due to his pedigree as a sports owner.

Susan Freeman from PSE was next to step forward. The Judge told her “You don’t have a dog in this fight.”
Sounds like it is almost over then? The Judge will rule Balsille ineligible and then negotiations can swiftly proceed with the two remaining bidders.

I believe that comment was in regards to the contempt charge against Moyes.

today's dog fight was supposed to be strictly about Moyes contempt (which PSE did not have a part in) it messily segued into some other territory.

But yeah this is nearly done... sept 11th hell or high water the Judge fully expects to be shed of this BK.

Except maybe a call or e-mail to your rep letting him or her know how upsetting it was to receive it and that you are seriously considering canceling your tickets and asking for your money back.

Rather a shark who has bite then a fluffball like Moyes.

Oh, and just so we're clear what Balsille is like

Exhibit C is Leipold's statement to the Board of Governors. Mandatory reading.

No wonder the league has it out for JB
