Agreed, but being as he's still over there and I'm pleasantly surprised with Hagelin's development at Michigan, I went with CH. Request to add Dale Weise.

Glad you wrote Gaulton. I was about to write that he should definitely be there. First round talent who slipped only because of injury

I don't understand how Hagelin is ranked by some as being above Kveton or Doyle.

is there a reason Hagelin is better than Kveton based on anything other than his desire to come here? He may not want to trade being a Czech superstar for being an American minor leaguer, butif he can be a second liner in the NHL, making millions, I bet he would do it.

Doyle vs. Hagelin is an even bigger puzzle for me. Doyle is beter offensively, bigger and actually hits. So how is Hagelin better?

Attitude, skating, defensive awareness. Hagelin is going to be a pretty good lower line forward with his speed. I would say Sjostrom 2.0. Doyle is a bit more of a question mark. The team was not impressed with his workout routine last offseason and it showed by them not inviting him to camp.

Yup, all 7 draftees are legit prospects: Dizzy, Step, Grachev, Kundratek, Weise, Doyle and Gaulton. Was there ever a draft where all players drafted by a team made it into the NHL? I doubt all 7 of them make it, but 4 out of 7 doesn't seem like an unreasonable number... and 3 out of 7 would be the safe number.

100% agree with your assessment of Hagelin.

Any source on that Doyle story? I thought he might have missed camp due to a lingering back injury. And wouldn't it make more sense for the Rangers to invite Doyle and work with him on his routine (if he does have poor conditioning)? Leaving him out of the camp for the reason you propose has no benefits (for anyone involved).

I really don't get the love for Zabo. He's definitely a project, whereas we still have a couple of actual prospects who aren't on the list. Zabo, Zaba, Wiik are all projects.

Look at Gaulton, Max Campbell and David Skokan should all get in before those 3. I'm surprised there hasn't even been a peep about the last 2.

Gaulton is a reclamation at this point, don't you think? He's coming off an injury, and his coaches questioned his conditioning and even benched him for it. He has talent, but he has a long way to go before that talent becomes ready for professional hockey. He still has issues with positioning and decision making. Obviously he's a young defenseman and that isn't abnormal, but there are no shortage of question marks surrounding him.

David Skokan? He plays a very, very similar game to Carl Hagelin. He's defensively responsible with an offensive game that may or may not develop. He has a much bigger frame than Hagelin, but in terms of development, I'd same they're pretty even. I'd also hesitate to rank Skokan since young players who come to the States then head back to their home countries to play professionally often times don't come back.

And Max Campbell to me looks like a PP specialist in the college ranks who doesn't really do anything else. If he can take a step forward this year and round out his game a bit I'd be inclined to rank him higher.

I don't really see Zaborsky as a project. He's a finesse player for sure, and not particularly defensively responsible, but the question with him is how he'll hold up with his small frame in the North American game. So again, I don't see him as a project, more just a hit-or-miss type.

Just for the sake of argument, Leslie Treff rated Zaborsky 11th in the system. That was obviously before the draft, so you would expect Leslie to rank Zaborsky 13th or 14th if the rankings were redone today. People kill the overall HF rankings, but Leslie is extremely knowledgeable and a good judge of talent--and watches these prospects more than anyone commenting on this forum, you and I included. Leslie was the person that rated Zaba highly (seemingly out of nowehere), prior to his strong season last year. Leslie knows her stuff...

Basically what I'm saying is that you seem to value Zaborsky far less than many others. That's fine--I'm not saying that you're wrong or that you're not entitled to that opinion. Just don't be surprised that others like him.

That was my biggest issue with him otherwise I would've had him around 8-10 mark after Kreider...
