Kyle McLaren as 7th guy?

Our defense as it stands now:

Redden - Rozsival
Girardi - Staal
Rookie - Rookie
Rookie/Cheap vet

How about McLaren as 7th? He's a physical d-man with some experience. He'll likely come cheap and if need be he could split time as 6th guy with one of the rookies. He'd make us a little meaner and tougher.

He had a rough year, but I don't think his career is over. He's at least worth a look.

he'd be worth a look.............cheap 2 way deal and yea maybe he replaces Heikkinen as my projected 6th Dman. If not and he accepts going to Hartford its good depth

thing is I think they are just going to go to camp with the young guys and let them beat each other out. It will lead to a very competitive camp.

Once again I think Gilroy will get the 5th spot. I guess if he completly blows then he can be beat out but I doubt that happens

so its Heikkenin, Potter who are 25 and Sauer and Sanguinetti who have the best shot.

I know why people want DelZotto their but he is going to play with a great OHL team and coach in London. He'll likely be the man their

McDonaugh is back in college

I really am looking forward to see what Kundratek brings. Williams is their aswell

Hartfords D is going to be freaking sweet.

I'm desperately waiting for this team to get a little nastier at the blueline. I thought last year Mclaren could be handy for a year, but that was before he was pushed back by the Flyboys. Maybe his career isn't over, but at 32, he's not getting younger neither. Torts and his players are praising the "we must be in shape coming training camp" thing, and we know the conditioning will be a key point next season. I put a big question mark on Mclaren. Now, as always, if the price is right...

If the choice was Kyle McLaren or a traffic cone, I'd have to think long and hard about it.

Besides, this team needs an experienced vet that can play on the bottom pair in the top 6. We can carry Potter as the 7th.

Somehow I don't believe he would be in any type of shape to compete for a spot this September.

I think that rookie/cheap vet slot is meant to be one position

Sauer will make the team. He hits and a decent d-man.

Let's just sign a traffic cone to be the 7th defenseman. It'd be the same thing really.

EDIT: Damn, was too late with that one.

if anything, see if they can invite him the camp the same way they did Dave Scatchard and Petr Nedved, and the same way Bryan Berard(would he be a possibility..?) was invited to the Islanders camp.

I'd rather have Malik and that's say A LOT!

An infinitely better option over Mclaren, though I'd expect Sauer would be higher than the #7 spot.

Still if we had to play a Pilon like Mclaren, I'd rather call up Gilroy, Heikkinen, Sauer, Sanguinetti, Williams, or even Potter from Hartford, basically, whoever doesn't make the team from camp. There is zero need for this team to carry 7 D with so many options in the minors.

Just want to share info I have regarding the NYR.
Francis Bouillon is in deep discussion with NYR, the contract would worth 1.2M by year.(possibly 1 year)

There is a french forum with one of Bouillon's friend. He has post there for many years with update on Bouillon's injuries and more. Nothing 100% confirm.

Gotcha. Has his friend been generally reliable? Not a bad deal for us, if true.
