Kings 55/1 in Vegas

Just put down $20 last weekend for the Kings to win the 2010 SC. 55/1...so $1,100 if they take it.

Vegas ranks them 25th to win the cup, in front of only Toronto (55/1), Colorado (75/1), Tampa Bay (100/1) and NYI (100/1).

Throwing money away? Most likely, but it always adds some excitement to the season for me...screw it...I'm a fan!

ill be there placing my bet as well in approximately 46 days 6 hours and 10 minutes give or take. last year it was 60/1 so it looks as though even vegas is noticing the kings moving in the right direction.

might have to put $10 on tampa bay as well.

I am surprised Tampa is 100/1 as well. They aren't that bad.

I'm willing to take those kinds of odds so just send me your money and if Handzus is raising the Cup come June I'll pay out. If anybody wants to know why Vegas just keeps getting better and better every time you go look no further than these types of bets.

Internet rule #1: Reality has NO place in hockey threads (especially threads that have the words "Kings" and "win the SC")..

Did the guy who took your futures bet give you a funny look? For the record BoDog has the Kings listed at 60/1 so you lost out on $100 when the Kings win the Cup in June. I like Washington at 11/1 or the Ducks at 18/1 much better. I'll take the $360 on a team that really isn't that of a long shot. And Wabwat, I don't even know if that's legal but it if is I'd be more than willing to take all Kings fans money who are positive the Kings will be winning the Cup right now. I feel like maybe that's not that smart of a bet considering the last time they made the playoffs I was in my 20's and I'm 36 now. Yup, they're a lock, yay, yay, yay-Go Kings Go!

You think that is any less of a sucker bet? Futures bets in general are sucker bets even if they pay even money and you have a 50/50 chance at winning (i.e. over unders of wins etc).

So you like that sucker bet better? You still have a 1 and 30 chance at winning. I don't think anyone intends on winning when they make that bet even if you bet on a favorite. It is more if they didn't bet it and the Kings won, they'd be disappointed they hadn't. It is just as retarded if you bet on the favorite. I bet the $40 on the Ducks to win the Cup at the start of the 2006 playoffs so that if they won, I'd have a consellation (I believe it was like 30/1 odds or maybe even higher). That was the best $40 I ever lost. I would've done it again in 2007 but they were only like 5/1 or 6/1 at the start of the playoffs.

Dude you are taking all the fun out of it....

The guy who took the bet actually commented on how the Kings look like they have a good, young upcoming team, FWIW.

And do you really think that if the miracle happens and the Kings win, and I head to Vegas to collect my $1,100 (which will only get blown once I get there) that I will care about that $100, because I didn't take a bunch of time to find out who was giving the absolute best odds, when the bet was made on a whim in a hotel casino sports book?

Seriously, I'm feeling kind of bad for you.

Don't feel bad for me, I'm agreeing with you that you threw your money away. I'd be more likely to bet that the Kings finish in the 60 point range right now but I don't want to go out on a limb or anything.

Tik, i don't know if you're more conservative with your money than most, but i will guarantee you that you'll throw more than $20 away from now until the end of next season's playoffs... and i don't think it would be a stretch to say that it'll be highly unlikely to have the potential of yielding a grand in return, as unlikely as even THAT may be.

dropping 20 on 55/1 odds... big deal.

The only way to settle this is with VCash. Whoever has the most next June wins! Or I could put $20 on Gina Carrano this Sat night, +155. Make a cool $31?

He wouldn't have thrown his money away any more than a person that bet on all 29 other teams that eventually don't win the Cup. In fact, the person who chooses a 5/1 team on a futures bet like that is retarded because that $20 could be doing a lot more for you than sitting in escrow for about 9 months when 29 out of 30 futures Cup bets will be losers anyways.

Well you go ahead and define 60 point range if it doesn't exceed 80 points, I'll take your bet.

I'm not getting into that mess again. Unless it's on VBookie no more point range bets with King fans. I had a friendly wager turned into a math definition war of words, talk about not fun. Where were these guys when I was failing Physics in college?

I don't understand why you have to use the word range in the first place. Are you not confident enough to just choose a number to leave out the ambiguity?

My dad stopped by Laughlin for a day and told me that some casino had the Kings to win at 34/1. I think he put 10 bucks down on it, but I told him that there's bound to be better odds on the Kings (well, better meaning higher paying odds) somewhere.

Dig up the thread and research it on your own time.

Well i know that but I wasn't even referencing that. He made a reference that he'd be more willing to bet the Kings not making 60 point range than the Kings winning the Cup in this thread. I told him to put a number on it but apparently that is like pulling teeth.
