I mean, just look at the guy who says he reads more educated things on this message board...that's just ludicrous. It's a testament to society becoming overly opinionated and thinking they are right and everyone else is wrong.
If it's ludicrous to you, then you obviously haven't picked up an issue of THN in a while...that's pretty much all I can say.

Oh sure I have. It's fine. Much better than a whole lot of guys thinking they are the be all and end all of hockey, spewing hatred for all things professional on message boards.

Stole these out of the leafs board, some leaf fans feel very strong about our uniforms being changed to this, i personally like them more than what we have now, i think if the leafs had these jerseys full time, they would be ranked higher.

I love the Preds jersey, don't know why. I guess it just looks "clean" to me.

Oh, and as much as I hate the habs... its a beautiful sweater.

If Toronto added a white strip at the bottom of their jeresy, I would their jersey is perfect. Imo, Minnesota looks like crap, why are they top 5? I like the Blues jersey. They look kewl.

Chicago is right on the money. Excellent uniforms.

Can't understand the lack of love for the Jackets' jerseys. Homerism aside, most people put them at least in their top 15 in their own lists.

Anaheim has by far the ugliest uniforms in the NHL. The tiny, hard-to-read logo leaves a ridiculous amount of empty space on the front. Their colors aren't cohesive, or even obvious for that matter (I THINK their colors are white, black, gold and orange). The neck makes it look like the players are wearing some type of goofy NHL medal:

Just a ton of stuff wrong with that jersey.

This list already fails on the first account: It ranks 30 teams, not 75+ jerseys that have been used throughout last season or will be used in the upcoming season.

Yea I'd like to see a comprehensive list of home, away, and third jerseys.

Maybe even for fun, make another list including throwbacks or any jerseys used for special occasions such as the winter classic.

Actually at the end of the season Chicago and Detroit played another game using their Winter Classic jerseys. Plus Chicago has elevated their Winter Classic to their third jersey for the upcoming season.

Toronto's jerseys look like practice jerseys.

Put two stripes on the bottom or gtfo.

Chicago didn't use their Winter Classic jerseys that game. Only Detroit did.

Do you know what a practice jersey looks like? The Sens 3rd one is ugly, I'll give you that, but it looks nothing at all like a practice jersey.

chaosof99's jersey rankins 2008-09

1. New York Islanders alternate

This is just the classic good-looking jersey. The extra-thick stripes are a novelty in the league and the color scheme works well together. Good numbering and no piping. Just the best jersey in the league.

2. Philadelphia Flyers alternate

Many would probably believe I'd take this as the best jersey, but no, I am not a homer. However, it can't be denied that this is a classic and unique jersey and something desired and appreciated by the fans, also the reason why the Flyers are going to switch to this as their home jersey in the upcoming season like they did in the playoffs.

3. Montreal Canadiens home and 1945-46 alternate

Here is something about my list: Jerseys that are nearly identical except for switched colors (and minor details) will be grouped together. Usually this is true for most teams home and away jerseys. In case of the Montreal Canadiens it is a bit special though since 1) they had so many alternates last season, and 2) one of those alternates rather than their away jersey is practically a colorswitched version of their home jersey. The logo is a bit different and it has a different neck, but this is what their away jersey should be in my opinion. Other than that it is simply their standard of a jersey and it is my opinion that no Canadiens jersey should go without the center stripe behind the logo.

5. New York Rangers home

This is another classic jersey and probably the only one that should have a script instead of a logo on the front. Too bad their away jersey isn't an exact colorswitched version of it but I will talk about that later. I also very much like the raised numbers they use.

6. Boston Bruins home and away

Another very well designed for one of the few teams that is allowed to have a black jersey.

8. Detroit Red Wings home and away

Another almost perfectly colorswitched jersey. One could argue that it is almost too simplistic, but this jersey thrives on the simplicity which also helps to emphasize the detail in the logo.

10. Detroit Red Wings Winter Classic
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...eL._AA280_.jpg
Another simple but effective jersey for the same team making the Wings one of the collectively highest ranked team. The thick stripe is akin to Montreal's jersey without imitating it and works perfectly. However, the team logo only appearing as a shoulder patch has it's rank fall down a bit. A great third jersey, but not something that should become a primary.

11. Chicago Blackhawks home, away and alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...hawks_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...awks_white.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...khawks_alt.jpg
Here I debated separating the home jersey from the other two since there are some differences in the stripes and the wrists, but I thought it wasn't really worth to split them as they are too close to each other. A great jersey and I wish black one would stick around longer since I find it very smooth looking.

14. Philadelphia Flyers home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...lyers_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...yers_white.jpg
A simple but effective jersey for the 2nd team allowed to have black home jersey. An almost perfect switch in colors too. The only real problem is that the black jersey has a primarily black logo though the white outlines help.

16. New Jersey Devils home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...evils_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...vils_white.jpg
Now the devils practically have only one jersey in two different color schemes. A good way to go and they are both very good jerseys. In fact their jersey has been practically a constant since they threw away green as a team color. Good design just persists.

18. San Jose Sharks home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...harks_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...arks_white.jpg
This team has a unique color for which it should be commended. Too bad they screwed it up a bit by throwing in a black jersey (more on that later). Great striping but there is a major problem with this jersey and that is the numbers in the front.

20. Phoenix Coyotes home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...yotes_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...otes_white.jpg
Despite their financial trouble and the pretty bad third jersey, the Coyotes have a very good, simple but effective jersey. I also very much like the shoulder patch.

22. Anaheim Ducks home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...ducks_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...ucks_white.jpg
The Ducks also have a very good jersey and the curves at the bottom give it a unique note. But the jersey has a few problems. One is their script logo which is just too uncreative for my taste. There is really no need to write the name of the team on the jersey of the home team, much less the city they come from. The other is that the colors they switched to practically dictated them to have a black jersey but more likely than not that was on purpose.

24. Minnesota Wild home
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk.../wild_dark.jpg
Another simple but effective jersey and but the circled logo and the pipe around the shoulders detract a little from it. They should really just have their already awesome logo on it. Or even better make a green jersey again.

25. St. Louis Blues alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk.../blues_alt.jpg
The jersey is well designed but another unnecessary circle around the logo. As said before, there is no need to write the name of the team or the city they are from onto the jersey of the home team. Adding a local icon is also not necessary. This jersey would however look really good if they'd just put a big blue note on front of it.

26. Buffalo Sabres alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...sabres_alt.jpg
I originally planned to have this jersey ranked much higher since it is a tremendous step up from the Sluggalo jerseys, but on closer inspection there are just too many problems with it. The vertical piping, the numbers on the chest, the gray under in the armpit. However, as said, the Logo is just classic and needs to be reinstated as the primary. The colorscheme and striping also makes it look kind of like a uniform of the Union in the american civil war, but maybe I'm just crazy.

27. Calgary Flames home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...lames_dark.jpg
This is in my opinion an unsung hero of jersey. While Chicago, Ottawa and New Jersey also dabble in the black and red, Calgary uses black on red in the home. Too bad that too much piping almost ruins it. However, the detail of using Flags on the jersey counterbalances it a bit.

29. Boston Bruins alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...bruins_alt.jpg
After I praised the Bruins earlier, one would expect to find this jersey much higher. Unfortunately, it is a second black jersey. Now the Bruins, a.k.a the Black and Gold, are one of the few teams that should have a black jersey if they want to, but two is one too many. A yellow alternate would be great to see again. Instead they went the opposite direction as this jersey features even less gold and even the accompanying socks, which are gold for the regular black jersey, are black. It is a good jersey but a bit uncreative.

30. Edmonton Oilers alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...oilers_alt.jpg
This is without a doubt a classic jersey and the jersey from the Oilers glory days, but unfortunately that doesn't automatically make it a good jersey. Too me this jersey just has a stripe or two too many. Maybe it would look better if the wrists were blue instead of orange (yes, blasphemy!). I simply have never really liked this jersey.

31. Montreal Canadiens 1915-16 alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...Centennial.jpg
I had the Canadiens stripe jerseys very high in my list and now one might wonder why this one is so much lower on it. The reason is simple: The logo falls completely inside the stripe. The stripe is just a little bit too large. Still a very good jersey though.

33. Pittsburgh Penguins home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...guins_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...uins_white.jpg
This is a very basic but good jersey. However, the vegas gold is simply not a good color and I'd really like if they'd return to yellow instead.

35. Ottawa Senators home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...ators_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...tors_white.jpg
Another basic but working jersey in a good color pattern and far superior to their third jersey.

37. Tampa Bay Lightning home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...tning_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...ning_white.jpg
These are similar to the four above. The difference is that the Lightning have a different primary color than black. That and the numbers on the front are imply not necessary.

39. Minnesota Wild away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...wild_white.jpg
This is a good jersey showcasing their great logo and fulfills the basic needs of a hockey jersey. I just question the necessity of the red sidelines from the shoulders to the wrists.

40. Columbus Blue Jackets home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...ckets_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...kets_white.jpg
This jersey is basically just like the Wild away jersey, except in different colors and with a blander and more generic logo. However, I really like their shoulder patch.

42. Montreal Canadiens away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...iens_white.jpg
As said earlier, I think this one should be replaced by the 1945-46 alternate jersey. However, this is still a good and decent jersey, but it lacks the Canadiens stripe.

43. Toronto Maple Leafs home, away and alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...leafs_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...eafs_white.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...eleafs_alt.jpg
I group these three together even though the alternate is quite different but it would have been right in front of the other two in the rankings. The problem with the Leafs jerseys, while simple and effective, is that they are a bit too simple. The actually lack a stripe or the two stripes on the arms are just a bit too far apart from each other. I also don't really like the kind of shoulder pattern the alternate jersey has.

46. Dallas Stars away jersey
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...tars_white.jpg
A decent away jersey and by far the best they have but I will talk about that later.

47. St. Louis Blues home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...blues_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...lues_white.jpg
The two tones of blue are doing good but having a blue logo on a blue jersey is a bit troublesome and so is too much piping. There is also a difference in the shade of blue the logo itself is on the jerseys which I find really weird to have.

49. Edmonton Oilers home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...ilers_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...lers_white.jpg
There is just too much piping going on in this jersey too make it and good and it is my opinion that the Oilers should move away from the copper and go back to orange.

51. New York Islanders home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...nders_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...ders_white.jpg
Very similar to the Oilers' jerseys. However, their horrible and asymmetrically used shoulder patch and the numbers on the front have them rank below. I also think they should go back to the lighter shade of blue they have on the alternate.

53. San Jose Sharks alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...sharks_alt.jpg
A very unnecessary black jersey with numbers on the front and just not enough stripes. Also a rather bad shoulder patch.

54. Canucks home, away and alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...nucks_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...ucks_white.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...anucks_alt.jpg
Another three pack. While I understand that the rink and stick are supposed to form a C for Canucks, it just doesn't work. The Canucks never had a great logo and neither this nor the Orca are. And the Orca additionally has the name of the City they play in on the home jersey as well.

57. Washington Capitals home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...itals_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...tals_white.jpg
The Caps use a script logo, something I dislike. And that in spite of having such a great shoulder patch that it more often than not in coverage or image links to the teams is used instead. Versus also uses it on the scoreboard in the live coverage of games. The jersey also just has too much vertical striping.

59. Los Angeles Kings home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...kings_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...ings_white.jpg
I am opposed to using the name of the city on the jersey. I'm even more opposed to using it at obscure places like the Bottom of the jersey. The other caveat with their jersey is that they have a unique primary color in purple, yet make so little use of it.

61. Colorado Avalanche home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...anche_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...nche_white.jpg
Burgundy is in my opinion just not a very strong color and the piping also doesn't really help.

63. Carolina Hurricanes home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...canes_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...anes_white.jpg
While a good color switch, the main problem with the jersey is the pattern at the bottom which simply doesn't look good. I know it's supposed to be storm warning flags, but it just doesn't look good. The Numbers they use also look like from a Nascar decal.

65. Atlanta Thrashers away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...hers_white.jpg
The bad piping, a bad shoulder patch and in my opinion unnecessary white on the arms.

66. New York Rangers away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...gers_white.jpg
And this is what happens when you don't make good color switches for the away jerseys. This jersey has additional stripes on top of the shoulders that just stop, and the stripes on the arms and at the bottom have additional space in between as opposed to the home jersey. It just looks awkward.

67. Los Angeles Kings alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk.../kings_alt.jpg
I ragged on the Kings earlier for not using their purple enough. Guess what, this one doesn't use it at all. And it features the abbreviation of the home town very prominently on a home jersey.

68. Phoenix Coyotes alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...oyotes_alt.jpg
The roadkill logo is just not very good and this jersey has too many patches of different colors running into each other.

69. Nashville Predators home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...ators_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...tors_white.jpg
The colors are better than mustard but the pattern is still odd and just not that good. Also too much piping and an unnecessary difference in the Logo. At least they only have the name of the city on the away jersey but it's still useless.

71. Florida Panthers home and away
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...thers_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...hers_white.jpg
A jersey ruined by too much piping.

73. Tampa Bay Lightning alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...htning_alt.jpg
Just too much stuff going on plus a bad script logo. A different colored armpit with piping in the armpit also doesn't help.

74. Carolina Hurricanes alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...icanes_alt.jpg
Many things culminate here. An unnecessary black jersey. A black logo on a black jersey. A completely black shoulderpatch logo on a black jersey. The pattern at the bottom which is now unrecognizable as stormwarning flags. The fact that their alternate logo is the warning for a tropical storm rather than a hurricane and so on.

75. Chicago Blackhawks Winter Classic
http://www.winterclassicjerseys.com/...thentic-lg.jpg
I said I like thick stripes, but this one is too thick. The logo is also pretty bad even though it is predecessor to the current one. That it is in a circle doesn't help it either, which also spells the name of the team and city out on a home jersey.

76. Dallas Stars home and alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...stars_dark.jpghttp://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk.../stars_alt.jpg
Many were rather disappointed when the Stars unveiled their alternate to just be a colorswitched version of their already bad home jersey. Why is it bad? It spells out the name of the team of the city on front. Because it is black despite the team having a different primary color. Because it has not just numbers, but big numbers on the front.

78. All Star teams

Yes, they aren't immune to criticism either. Colorswitched jerseys are nice. However, playing two teams in colorswitched jerseys against each other is not a really good idea. I also strongly dislike asymmetry in jerseys.

80. Atlanta Thrashers home

Not a very good color, piping and asymmetrical.

81. Ottawa Senators alternate

A script logo and just way too much piping.

82. Buffalo Sabres home and away

Too many different color patterns running into each other and the horrible horrible Sluggalo logo.

84. Pittsburgh Penguins alternate

The simple fact of the matter is that powder blue is not one of their team colors, and a circle logo with the Name of the city and team is simply not really a good idea. Some things should just be left in the past.

85. Atlanta Thrashers alternate
http://www.icejerseys.com/images/rbk...ashers_alt.jpg
A failed lab experiment trying to cross a football, hockey and basketball jersey. Brutal.

86. The remaining Montreal Canadiens centennial jerseys

All of them should have not really been brought back. Two of them aren't really in the Canadiens colors and the Prison Stripes jersey is just unbearable to look at.

So that's it. All 88 jerseys that have been used in the NHL last season ranked. Took me some time. Please make it worth it.

That looks like an excellent and well put-together list, chaos. I'll be looking into it in depth when I have time.

IMO the Flyers' 3rd jersey is the most beautiful jersey in the league. Its just so clean and great.
Anything with that kind of orange I like (oilers, Flyers and Islanders)
Minnesota is alright, looks better in person but i wouldn't say in the top 5.

St. Louis' Jersey is being underrated IMO, its one of my favorites, very nice blue and looks crisp.
