Mathieu Schneider

I was just wondering if anyone would want him on your team this coming season? He put up pretty good points for a 40 year old defense man last year- 32 points.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8451224

He had played an average of 20:56 a game for the 20 or so regular season games he played with the Canadiens. He incurred an upper body injury and missed the last two games of the playoffs against Boston.

Source for regular season TOI w/ Canadiens: http://www.nhl.com/ice/playerstats.h...Name=timeOnIce

He had an average of 21:02 of ice time with the Thrashers in 44 games this year.

I haven't really watched Schneider (though I may have seen a game with him in it- if I did- I did not pay him any individual attention) but I was wondering about him is because he is one of the few Jewish players in the NHL (I'm Jewish) and on paper he seems like he is a pretty good player and has had a good career.

I would imagine the Rangers have some interest. How much is hard to tell.

Canucks will probably sign him once Sundin tells Gillis that he's going to retire. If he does.

There's definitely some team that will have interest, loved him as a Hab last year and would take him back if we didn't sign Spacek.

I was really hoping the Habs would have brought him back, his play really picked up after the trade from Atlanta. Who knows, maybe he could've been named captain for this season...

I'm hoping we go to the same synagogue in Vancouver next year.

Now that Zubov is gone, I am hoping he is going to be the jackets stop gap guy until they can make a move for a more permanent guy.

This guy was a real warrior for the Habs. He came back with a ribs injury and scored some key goals to get us in the playoffs.

In the playoffs he was clearly our best D while Markov was out. He was more physical than Komisarek.

The problem for Schneider isn't the talent or leadership, it's the asking price for a slowing 40 year old

If the habs do re-sign him, is it going to be the first time there are 2 decent jewish players on a team? (Schneider and Cammalleri)
