This would never happen.. the Canucks would have to take all our bad contracts, give us Edler, Hodgson, Luongo and Willie Mitchell, plus their first round picks forever for it to be worth it to Montreal.
Eklund is saying that the Nucks like Chips and Pleks and that we like Rodin, Burrows, Grabner and ''a young goalie'' (Schneider?). I don't know about that, but I'd be thrilled to have Burrows play with Laps. Since it's Ek, no chances it happens anyway.
If true, Vancouver will quickly learn that we're not the Panthers/Lightning who traded away Luongo and Boyle for basically nothing.
If they want the guy who is arguably the best d-man in the NHL, especially for the salary he gets and his age. They'll have to throw everything but the kitchen sink our way. Marky Mark finished above Lidstrom, Niedermayer, Rafalski and Boyle in points last year. And he's just 30. All the other players just mentioned are 39, 35, 35 and 33 respectively and all played on much, much better teams.
Simply put, Vancouver simply doesn't have the assets (save for goaltender) to pay for it. Hodgson? Another small center? Forget it. Edler? Half the points Markov gets. Their 1st round pick isn't going to be low, and in a bad draft year. We couldn't take the salaries of the Sedins, and we already have our own #1 goalie. Burrows and Kesler are third line players who just had career years and we have those by the truckload.
It simply doesn't make any sense. Unless Bob decides to pull another trade a-la Ribeiro.
