It's safe to say Wandell is no longer flying under the radar. His long, strange trip has finally brought him to our #5 ranking. There are still questions whether he can translate his creative scoring touch to the NHL, but all in all he's come further than nearly anyone anticipated.

Dallas Stars Summer 2009 HF-Voted Top ? (we'll see how far we get) Prospects

1. Ivan Vishnevskiy
2. Jamie Benn
3. Scott Glennie
4. Philip Larsen
5. Tom Wandell
6.

I went with Roman. His development may plateau this season playing in Europe, but I hope they can get his contract issue resolved next season.

Here's a thought: If you were one of those who voted for Wandell based on his proximity to winning a roster spot, does that fact impact Roman? Because unless one is moved to a wing it seems like a bit of a zero sum game. Wandell's readiness would make it more difficult for Roman to find an appropriate role.

I went with Wandell over Roman because Wandell seems to have the ability to contribute on any line. He's defensively responsible, and he's shown offensive ability. While I see Roman and Wandell as having very similar potential on a scoring line, I don't think Roman would be an effective player in a checking role or 4th line duty.

Ideally, I could see Wandell as the 4th line center playing about 10 minutes a game in 2010. He could then play his way up the lineup. Roman’s more of a boom or bust player. The same could be said of Sergei Korostin.

OK, so looking at Wandell more as Modano's replacement, and Roman more as Richards'? I can see the logic there, although it may be unlikely to come to pass.

Yeah, I think (hope) Richards signs long term with Stars next summer. Roman's contribution to Dallas will probably come in the form of a trade. I just hope he gets to NA and proves to be a legit player in the AHL and maybe injury call-up duty. Otherwise, they won’t get much value for him.

Plus, I don’t think Winkler and Sacchetti get too much recognition for Stars fans, but they could be very good centers as well. Plus, they’re both right shots.

Winkler is playing wing in the USHL isn't he?

Roman again. He's still the most talented and hopefully after this season he'll get his contract situation sorted out in Czech Rep. so he can play in NA. He can be a 2nd line center in this league. I just hope he gets the chance to prove it.
