See the Dubi contract status thread. There is an update from Brooks. Teams can't come to terms on a long term contract so it looks like Dubi is going to sign a 1 year 700K contract and take it from there.
OK - thanx, saw it just now after scrolling. So we have almost 2 million in space with a 22 man squad then?
Obviously...it makes sense...just not sure how Lisin fits into the whole scheme of things...actually, keeping Korpikoski would have made even more sense, since he could play on the 4th line...but, unless there are extended injuries, I'm not sure where Lisin gets his opportunity...still not a fan of the Kotalik signing.
Agreed. I think the Kotalik money could have been used a little better, but not adverse to it really. The Rangers now have one potential 40+ goal scorer and 4 players (Kotalik/Drury/Higgins/Drury) who will at least pot 20+ goals, and 2 players (Avery/Callahan) who have a good chance at scoring 20 goals. Will it happen for sure that all these players get over 20 goals, no of coarse not, but its a good possibility. 7 players over 20 goals or close to 20 goals is a lot of offense.
ok, the numbers are good. hes a decent guy who can create some stuff offensively.
not so sure this is a good thing for dubi.
if hes playing hardball with slats i would be concerned. he may well be outa here if hes trying to leverage for a better contract because vinny can play center and thats where hell be in dubi doesnt sign.
at 34 yrs old not sure what hes got left in the tank but for 1 yr its a no brainer considering we needed a guy whos good with the puck and can create from the center position.

if im dubi, im kinda bummed..
He can still dangle ,he can still pass and he still has a decent wrister, something that we've missed since jagr and at 34 for 1.1mill we should be giving out a sigh of relief that we didn't sign some midget like comrie.
Nice job Slats!
Lisin on the 4th line?
Not gonna be pretty watching Enver burning it up the wing only to see Boyle and Brash chugging up the ice 100ft behind him..
I don't see how this would faciliate a trade for Healtley. The Rangers have 7 top 9 wingers now, with Lisin more then likely the odd man out. The Rangers won't be trading any of their newly acquired players (Higgins/Prospal/Kotalik/Gaborik/Lisin). That leaves Avery and Callahan (They won't get traded either).
Anyone care to take a shot at what the lines might look like?
BTW, in the Dubi contract update thread, I broke down the Rangers salary situation a bit, and it seems going with 12F/7D/2G (And dubi signing at Brooks' reported 700K) the Rangers will have somewhere around $2.5 million in cap space (That's with Voros and Rissmiller in the AHL).

I was thinking the same. Korps' PK services would have a real plus for this roster, as it stands, too.
Disappointed with the signing: another older forward with diminishing skills on the downside of his career. Yes, he can still do some things but he creates a roadblock for younger players. Would rather have seen Lisin have the opportunity to play regularly. If we kick Lisin down to the 4th line, where does that leave Byers? Why did we trade Korp. for a young offensive winger if the plan was to sign a veteran offensive winger?
While I'm really happy with the moves Sather has made up until this point (I'm pro-Kotalik), this move smacks of just to much cutting and pasting.

Prospal is a proven veteran winger and he hasen't had a constant downhill yet ,he always improves the season he had bad stats on(this year should be good stats) while lisin is all predicitions, not to sell him short but i'd go with prospal on this.
When Prospal was playing in the Czech League for Ceske Budejovice he was playing center the whole time. He was actually playing at center in Czech national team too (centering Jagr for example).
He will be playing center here in New York, mark my words.

Hope not! That would means either Dubi or AA isnt on the team...

I think that Dubinsky will be tried out first with Prospal on the left and Gabs on the right. Having Prospal now gives us more options though if Duby doesn't work out. Something like Higgins - Prospal - Gaborik would be nice. Dubinsky would center a 2nd line of Drury - Duby - Kotalik.

Yeah, but he is too slow for Gaborik.
Good signing but hopefully they dont expect him to keep up with gabby
OK... considering that at least half this board considers me a ****** for my criticism of all the things I believe Sather does wrong, I must also commend him for this one, as this is EXCELLENT value for money.
