Pens interested in Dominic Moore...

TIOPS is reporting that Shero has real interest in Moore and wants to bring him into camp...

I'd be surprised if Moore would come to the Pens in a 4th line role. Unless they plan on using Staal at wing?

The same Dominic Moore who wanted 3-4 million a year only about 6 months ago?

Because we need more centers.

Moore would fit in now better than he did before, though. He fits Bylsma's system much better than MT's.

I was thinking about him the other day. He really did well when he was with us. I like his game a lot, but clearly if he comes to camp it has to be on some kind of non-guaranteed deal. He seems like a really likable guy, so I could see him come to camp and then land an NHL deal with someone else...the way Brent Sopel did a couple of years ago (Detroit camp, then signed with Chicago).

Can't believe Buffalo gave up a 2nd for him at the deadline. And they have no interest in re-signing him.

Why are we talking about this guy when we could be discussing Malkin wallpaper files?

The guy asked for a trade because he didn't want to play fourth line center when we had him last time. So who of Malkin, Crosby and Staal is he supposed to steal a spot from?

Sounds like a bogus rumor to me.

He is a great role player. He was one of the first players Shero brought in to help with the bottom six. Of course we now have enough bottom six guys and then some.

I agree. Although Tanguay would be a solid option to fill the 2nd line wing need...

To add fuel to the brewing Pittsburgh-Detroit rivalry, of course. Then Penguin players can whine after the finals when Bertuzzi refuses to shake Moore's hand and instead decides to break his neck.

He got beat out by a rookie Max Talbot.

I wasn't a fan of him then, and I'm not a particular fan of him now.

I'd much rather have the cap space rather than Moore

Wow, I'm actually surprised to see this animosity towards him. This board seem completely confused when he was traded (Shero himself admitted to knowing little about the guy) and has only improved since leaving...he's had a bad few months but...jeez. I'd welcome him back without any problem, though I can't figure out why he'd want back when the team is only deeper than it was last time he was here.

Stuff happens, and things change. In pro sports even more quickly than in life in general. If Moore accepts a training-camp invite, he's not a fool. He knows he'd be No. 4 on the depth chart if he makes the team (and even that isn't a given with us), but he may accept it because he wants to play with good players with the hope of getting spotted by someone else's pro scouts.

Classy organizations do stuff like this, and our owner is among the classiest in pro sports. So, it wouldn't be surprising if this happens. And Moore genuinely looks like a great guy, so I am sure the players he played with that are still here would welcome him back (even if briefly).

I just find it so humorous that such a short period of time ago, he's asking for top 6 money, now he can't even find a team. It's hysterical.

Moore's a good player but I'm not totally sure where he'd fit in here.

I wonder if Shero's doing him a solid and getting him into a camp so another team might sign him. I mean, if he comes to camp on a tryout, I can't really see the harm in that...it basically creates competition without using cap space.

I'd take him for the right price. He would make a better 4th line center than Zigomanis.
