I don't see any animosity in here. Moore just doesn't fit. We all suspect he'll be paid like a top-3 line player but he probably wouldn't be one of the Penguins' 9 best forwards. And since he only plays center, it makes even less sense.

He had a career year. I don't see why he'd want to battle with Mike Rupp and Pascal Dupuis for ice time for 800k per year, or less, when he doesn't have to.

that would be a helluva change of heart for moore. if memory serves, he asked shero for a trade back in '07 because he was supplanted midway through the year and was moved down to fourth-line center.

if he came back... he'd be a fourth-line center.

Yeah, i'm with you. I love Moore's game, but he doesn't fit here at all. It would be a waste of both parties' time for him to spend camp here.

no need for him... we only need a top six winger, maybe a seventh dman, and thats it, we have plenty of people who play bottom six that are NHL ready or can be called up from the AHL as well.

Only thing that would make it fit would be a permanent move to the wing for Staal or Malkin. And Moore, while effective, isn't exactly the kinda guy you shuffle your whole (Cup-defending) team around to make room for.

I liked Dominic Moore, but he's pretty much the equivalent of Pascal Dupuis. I don't see a spot for him, but hey! If there was, I'd sign.

I think he's got a little more offensive ability to him than that.

Nonetheless...this makes practically no sense.

I'm not sold on that line of thinking. Not that this is a major issue or anything but I think Ziggy gives you the edge that you're looking for in the face off circle.

Moore may have a slight edge talent wise, but what are you really looking for in a 4th line center anyway. I say go with the guy who is 65% on the dot.

I think it all depends on the context of bringing Moore in. If he's signed to a decent one-way contract...yeah...that doesn't really make much sense. But if he truly can't find a team to sign with and is willing to accept a tryout offer from a GM that knows him very well...what's the harm in that?

I don't really see him coming back either but with amount of people that wanted to keep Zigomanis, I'd have thought Moore on a bargain/tryout would make people intrigued.

I just can't imagine why he'd want a tryout with the Pens. There have to be more than a few teams willing to give him a tryout that he actually has the chance to hang with after camp is over. Taking a tryout contract with a team that probably isn't gonna keep him even if he has a decent camp, and certainly not on the top 3 lines, doesn't seem to have much upside for him.

Moore is a guy who's utterly delusional about his worth. He was in an ideal situation in Toronto but he demanded more than $2 million per year on a contract extension and got laughed at. I can't see him signing for a reasonable sum unless he's done a complete 180.

The only real weakness this team still has is its face off ability. Zigomanis would help us immensely.

We have plenty of bottom 6 guys and youngsters chomping at the bit to get a shot with the big club.

No thanks.

A center? That's the last thing this team needs right now. Staal as winger? Do fans even pay any attention anymore?

Could it work under Bylsma? maybe, but we've seen this tried before. It'd be great if Jordan can convert to wing but I wouldn't pin my hopes on him being the answer for the 2nd line wing.

I liked Dominic Moore when he was here and he's gotten better, especially offensively, since he left but I don't see how he fits unless we're going to sign him for significantly less than $1.4M and then move Pascal Dupuis.

We're too deep on bottom 6 forwards already.

Moore was 14th in the league in faceoff percentage last year.

Marcel Goc signed with Nashville today, 550k on a two-way deal. Would have been a good 4th line center as he's one of the better defensive centers in the league and a great faceoff guy (58.2% last season) as well. Guess Shero just likes his team as it is right now.

Sounds like a bogus rumor to me.
Well let's see, he demanded 3rd line or better, and the Penguins told him to f-off. Then he wanted first line $$ from the leafs, and the leafs told him to F-Off. Buffalo obviously doesn't want him.

Maybe reality is starting to set it?

I think he is a good 3rd/4th line player but his head is too big.

Wow, that's about as cheap as it gets. Adams-esque deal plus the two way flexibility..
