All Things Sundin

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklun...Sundin/1/22631

JUST SAY NO!

Edit: Mods, I wasn't sure what was lower on the rumor totem pole (rumor or speculation). This should be the absolute lowest and I thought speculation was lower than rumor. Feel free to change if you see fit.

No offense meant to the OP, but why do Eklund's rumors get posted? Is he ever accurate?

Sometimes.

I'd say it's more likely he takes a pay-cut to play with Red Wings for a last shot at the cup.

people would be against having him for a one year deal? we dont have a number 1 center, he immediately helps our team. 28 points in 41 games on a offensively limited team. If we have the cap room and its not long term, do it.

He isn't a #1 center any more. He's also abysmally slow. I can't think of a center less fit to play with Gaborik. Heck Yzerman is probably faster.

no, we have enough forwards, and i don't think he would even be in the better half by now.

How in the world do the Rangers get Sundin under the cap even if they want him?

Anybody saying he can't help their team in anyway is a moron. The question is whether it's worth it financially and if he fits the overall plan.

To get Sundin in NY there needs to be serious movement to get under the cap, right?

If we traded Dubi for Heater (which we won't), and magically removed some cap space (which we won't), then I'd be down for signing Sundin.

My guess is Sundin will sign for very cheap, at around 2-3 million max. But even then, we can't really fit him.

Not sure I want him anymore. It's another big personality that might clash with our coach or even our players. I can't see Tortorella wanting the guy. He doesn't really fit in with the team

No. Throwing darts at names is more accurate. The only value to Ek is that if he predicts a trade, you can put it to bed because you know it definitely won't happen.

Only after credible sources report it... in '07 he was say Briere and the Habs were finalizing a deal 30 minutes after he signed in Philly.

EDIT: he WAS right about Koivu to the Ducks though.

If Dubinsky fails and the Rangers are looking for a center mid-season I guess I wouldn't be totally opposed to the idea. But I'd rather look internally for a solution at that point, maybe Anisimov or whoever. In order for Sundin to come to he's not getting that 10 million pro rated salary he got with Nucks.

Actually you know what? After last season..

Sundin can shove it.

Mats Sundin > any Ranger forward not named Gaborik. Certainly better than every other center on the team.

i'll take the guy at a discount, i think he and prospal would work well together.

i don't think he's gonna come to the rangers though and i don't really care to invest myself in another sundin saga. i don't really care what he does.

If he signs a cheap one year deal I'd be for it.

Possibly.

Without talking about the source (who's probably not even close on this), or talking about the feasability of it (since, with our cap situation, it's probably not going to happen), he would be a good addition.
