Best Winning Perecentages all time (NHL)

1) Montreal Canadiens 2849 wins (most in the league) 1834 losses 837 ties 26OTL's
Winning percentage = .592

2) Philadephia Flyers = .582

3) Boston Bruins = .553

4) Edmonton Oilers = .544

5) Buffalo Sabres = .543

6) Calgary Flames = .526

7) Detroit Red Wings = .522

8) Colorado Avalanche = .521

9) St. Louis Blues = .516

10) Toronto Maple Leafs = .508

The fact that the habs are 1015 games above .500 is absolutely sick. If you just think about it for a moment, it truly reminds you just how great of a franchise this really is.

I'm somewhat surprised that the Buffalo sabres are at #5.... they are the only team in the top 5 without a cup

(these are regular season stats only)

Other Canadian Franchises:

19) Ottawa Senators: .472

24) Vancouver Canucks: .455

Also, the Leafs lead the league in total losses with 2327.

In the last 10 years the Habs have a winning percentage of 0.497 However things are looking up as the winning percentage for the last 5 years was exactly 0.500 and for the last 2003-04 season it was 93/164 or 0.567

whenever you can praise the habs and bash the leafs in the same post, it sure makes it worthwhile to type the whole thing out.

Ottawa;s record as posted in the hockey news is 383-436-115-20

I dunno how many games the sens played in early 20th century but this seems like the the new edition of the senators only

383+436+115+20=954 games played
954 games played/90 games per season(approx. number with playoff games included)
= 10.6 years

So ya my mathematic skills tell me its the new sens only
