Is Vancouver still offering Sundin 10 million per season? If things don't go well for the Rangers they might sign him. He can follow Ohlund to Tampa.

I can understand people hating on Sundin for his shenanigans last offseason, but spare me with the "old and slow" garbage. After about two weeks, he was close to a PPG player and if he played a full season would have had his 16th straight 70-plus point season (not counting the 1995 lockoutm, which he wouldve hit 80 points anyway) and had a very good postseason despiote missing half the season.

Sundin is still capable of anchoring a top line and if one of his wingers is gaborik, you would see more production from him than Dubinsky.

Don't get me wrong, I think the guy is a turd for that BS he pulled with the leafs and playing eveybody like a violin. But he is a legit No. 1 center until proven otherwise, and if he would accept a 2-3 million one-year deal, I would be ecstatic.

Yeah right, swap Voros' salary for Sundin.

Not if he dilly-dallies around for the first 2 or 3 months of the season again.

He was atrocious in Vancouver until he finally got his conditioning up. If he signed for a reduced rate before camp started, I might not mind him for one year, but frankly I don't see him fitting in. We have too many forwards on the roster as is and I don't think it's fair to bump Arty back down to Hartford for another year or stick him on the 4th line for 4 minutes a night.

Not at all. He flat out sucked in Vancouver. It was a blessing in disguise that we didn't sign him. Sundin is slow and lazy. That sounds like a Torts player.

sundins best days are behind him. he may help a contender looking for a 2c who can help on the pp and offensive game, but for us, hes not the right guy. not even close.

pass.

how is this even remotely possible, didn't he get like 8.6million from the Canucks? So unless he takes a huge paycut this is ridiculous.

he was pretty bad the first month when he came back but if you watched the rest of his season, Sundin was playing like Sundin. Something like 25 pts in 30 games. Only averaged 16:51 ice time. And he wasn't even playing with the Sedin line. I think he can still play but I'm not sure he's going to play the 20 min Torts would demand from him and like always, how does that even work for the cap? What happens to Dubi? Is he taking a Prospal discount? If I was him, I'd try my luck in Detroit.

I had a funny pipedream last night

Eklund triumphantly announced that:
  • We had signed Brandon Dubinsky at his QO for 700 Grand – we promised to give him his payday next year and he smiled
  • We had signed Mats Sundin for 2.500.000 at 1 year
  • We had signed F Bouillon for 1.000.000 at 1 year
  • We had then also flipped Redden, Higgins, McD, 1st rounder in 2010 to Ottawa for Danny Heatley and Jason Smith – whom we immediately stuck in Hartford together with Voros, Rissmiller, Arnasson, PAP...(which would then in reality mean that we traded Gomez + Redden + our 1st in 2010 for Heatley + Smiths salary down in Hartford + the opportunity to sign Gaborik)

Our lineup was then:

Heatley – Sundin – Gaborik
Propsal – Drury – Kotalik
Avery – Dubinsky – Callahan
Brashear – Anisimov – Boyle

Lisin

Staal – Girardi
Rozie – Gilroy
Sangs – Bouillion

Potter

Hank
Vally

Our cap space was around half a million with a 22 man squad.
The defense was kinda shaky – but the puck was seldom to be at our end...
Then i woke up and realized I should stay away from the ganja and get used to the thought of Arnasson + Voros + Redden still being on the team

Unfortunately, even eklund's speculations have better chance of happening. and btw Anisimov has nothing to do in the 4th line!

IMO, we only sign sundin if dubinsky is dealt which that would ultimately mean we'd have heatley. Maybe BBKers dream will come true

This is not my speculation. It is Eklunds pipedream

Rangers are looking for a number one center....Sundin can be a number one center.

Doesn't take rocket science to make this one up.

Sundin?

Speculation, of course, but worth discussing...

It will always be speculation until he actually retires. It's not gonna happen. Torts would eat Sundin alive.

If we were to trade dubinsky, I could see us possibly signing sundin and keeping higgins on the wing
