This could be a blessing that he rest for another month, and if Gags plays well in the first part of the season, he is a LOCK for the team, no doubt.

I agree.

I'd almost rather him tweak it during his first full-speed practice now and realize the need for more rest and rehab than to make it through the camp and have him not fully prepared for a grueling schedule this season.

From Tim P.:

http://philadelphia.comcastsportsnet...205&feedID=695

Quote:

Simon Gagne says his hip and groin injury during workouts at Team Canada’s Olympic orientation camp aren’t bad, but he’s taking no chances.

The Flyers’ left wing departed Calgary, Alberta today after injuring his right groin and right hip during Canada’s practice session late Monday afternoon. Gagne underwent surgery to his right hip last May.

“We had our first practice last night at the camp,” he said in an interview with a team spokesman. “I thought it was going to be an easy practice but the tempo was very fast right away during the very first drill. Guys were obviously trying to show their best. I had been skating back home for about two weeks but not at that high level.

Simon learned that the best players in the world are a bit harder to practice with than Randy ****ing Jones.

that guy....... I try to treat him like I did with Adam Eaton when he was a phil. I have to pretend he just does not exist on the team. I refuse to accept he is still on this team.

I think Simon won't be the last player who tweak something.

Pronger was quoted in the Star as saying Babcock runs some killer practices...very up tempo. Cleary was the only one managing to keep up...lol.

Get well soon Gags.

Fuuny because if you look at NHL.coms preview excerpt below they are pretending....!!!

As good a defense that includes Pronger, All-Star Kimmo Timonen, Braydon Coburn, Matt Carle and Ryan Parent is, the key to the season could be how the last line of defense performs - NHL.com

The Randy Jones hate is starting to bother me.

When healthy (see: capable of skating) he is a capable defenseman. He is just overpaid (yet an expiring deal).

I just want him 100% for the regular season. I could care less about the Olympics, I want him to kick ass more for the Flyers than for Team Canada.

He is a capable 5/6 defenseman when healthy. The biggest problem is that Stevens gives him 3/4 defenseman minutes, and then he's not capable. And he's overpaid for what he brings to the table. The combination results in a lot of disdain.

I don't hate Jones' play, I hate the combination of his play and salary and icetime.

Barring injury(ies), Jones won't be getting anything close to top 4 minutes this season; that will make him a vastly overpaid bottom pairing defenseman, though.

He's in a no-win situation after accepting that horrible offer from Holmgren.

I hate Randy Jones. I've hated him since the first season back from the lockout, so I'm not jumping on a bandwagon. I gave him a chance, and still nothing.

So did I. I hated him perhaps more than anybody his first 2 years in the league. And then, 2 years ago, he played so well that he MADE me change. The guy is a decent player, who in the right situation can be a good player.

Disclaimer: I still want him traded if there is another impact player we can add.

Two years ago pushed me to the level of "meh" cause he was finally playing somewhat decent, but until he proved he could stay there I didn't trust him. Last year proved me right, IMO. I was more making a point that I didn't hop on the bandwagon, my hatred for Randy Jones has been there for years.

Stevens always thought that Jones can do no harm.

How the hell did Homer give him 2.75M a year? WTF was he thinking? Same goes for Lupul.

Sometimes Homers decision making really scares me.

In his defense, he was hurt. He could barely skate.

So's most of the team all season. This team takes more injuries than anyone else. Niittymaki played an entire season as backup (I think it was roughly 20 games starting) and practiced all season with a torn hip/groin, taking cortizone shots. Man up.

You can try to defend him all you want, I still think he's a worthless piece of garbage when it comes to playing ability.

But while I have it on my mind, PM this person and tell him you want to be his new best friend:
