A dissapointment, yes. A setback? not really. Most people seem to miss the point about the draft. About 50 players out of the 230 drafted each year actually play a game in the NHL. About half of them have a long NHL career, and half of those become true impact players. Odds are low and against every team when it comes to the draft. So to label a third rounder a setback for being a bust is a bit dramatic.
On the other hand, when your 1st rounders turn into busts, that is in fact a setback because most teams find regular NHLers in the first round, and if you don't, you remain stagnant while everyone else gets better. This happened to us by not drafting one of the many studs in the 2003 draft. Instead, we went with Nilsson, and were "set-back".
