Sabres/Habs

This is more a pipe dream then a true proposal.
Since Buffalo hasn't found a replacement for Spacek, maybe something like.

Pleks/Hamrlik/D'Ago for Derek Roy

I know he is there #1 center, but he just so fits the new Habs mold of hard working healthy players, palying all 82 games last year.

I don't think Buffalo does this.

They have a lot of Dmen right now and trading their best centerman doesn't make much sense.

We're too deep at D for the moment and we're too shallow at center. If anything we need another C so we can move Roy back to the wing where he belongs.

Roy is way too good to trade him, especially with the rather low salary he has. Would take a much better offer than that to get him.

In addition to having too many defensemen already, you also have the Sabres add something like 4-5 million in salary, which is way too much.

Roy is a fantastic player which translates to him not being traded for spare parts especially in their own division.

This trade is not so good for the Sabres, and it's not so good for the Habs either...

I don't want to lose Hamrlik

Pleks have been traded over 100 times this summer.. Cant wait till the season start, he will prove to be an excellent 2nd line center again..

You're right, Plekanec can be a really good second line center, I hope he can rebound and continue his progression. At the exeption of last year he progress every years he played since is first AHL season
He was one of the best forward (habs) at the second half of the 06-07 season, one of the best forward (habs) 07-08 season, almost everybody had a bad season last year.....If AK46 can wake up and produce more, he can have a surprising season. I still have hope for him, everybody saw what this guy can do. But he gonna have to do a better job in the playoff

Yep, but now all the opposing teams know that all you need to do is hit and knock him around a bit, and he folds like a cheap tent !

I'd take Derek Roy anyday...

They'd probably want Pleks and Maxwell, no?

D.Roy +2nd rnd pick
for
Pleks
Maxwell
6th round pick

Not really sure what it would take...

BTW, to all the violent/angry/bitter people out there!, this is not a serious proposal...put your baseball bats down!!

Just remember you'll never get quality by additioning quantity. Except for that Thornton deal, it doesn't work this way.

I think we'd be overpaying for Roy actually if that trade would go down.

We're pretty much hoping Plek reaches the production level of Roy, around 70ish. I don't think Roy will ever reach 90pts, I feel like his plateau is around the 80mark and likewise for Plek.
Now, he's proven a little more than Plek but I think those players are pretty much on par with Roy having the edge.
So in no way do I feel like he's worth a #2 center, a top 3 probably top 2 in Buffalo Dman, and a NHL ready prospect with natural goal scoring potential of 20-30ish goals.

I choose Roy over Plek any day of the week, but I choose Plek/Hamr/D'Ago over Roy any day as well.

So would anyone, but why would Buffalo do that?

They wouldn't do the initial deal either, way too much salary going back and not enough quality. Besides, they're already on thin ice up the middle because they're relying on Connolly to be their #2 center... there's no way they can enter a season with Connolly/Plekanec as their 1/2 punch.
