Not really. he's a terrific fighter, but not an intimidating figure on the ice at all, and not even that good of a checker. Especially lately he seems to have softened a bit. there were games last season where another teams tough guy was taking liberties and Orr did absolutely nothing. And he almost never takes the initiative on the ice to bother another teams star, save a game where he mugged Crosby a few times, but he doesn't nearly do it consistently enough. Perhaps it was Renney keeping him on a leash, but there were times when guys like Shanny, Avery, Mara were more intimidating on the ice than Orr.
What I'm saying is with "staged fights" being cracked down on, Orr's career may be in jeopardy pretty soon. But when he does fight, he's damn entertaining.
Colton Orr was brought to Toronto for one thing and one thing only. He will get his minutes and I don't think he that big a liability at all, As for the comment of keeping him (Orr) on a leash I think that is most likely the answer last season. I think a guy like Orr will thrive in the environment Brian Burke has created in Toronto, and the way the city loves it's tough guys especially if there good at it is all the more reason for Orr to succeed imo.
