Coyotes Rank 1st in the League

Article on NHL.com:

Of the five teams that have been involved in the fewest shootouts in their history, only the Phoenix Coyotes (17-14, .548) have a winning record.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=4...id=DL|NHL|Home

This means, that from the teams that take part in the fewest shootouts, we're the best!!

My attempt at starting the year off on a positive note!

For what it's worth, the point was that the more shootouts a team tends to have, the better they perform in them, and the Coyotes are the only team of the bottom five to have a winning record. It's certainly not much of a prize, but it's more than faint praise.

So then, with each additional shootout we're actually approaching mediocracy.

In order for us to retain our position at the top of the bottom, we have to make sure we take part in as few shootouts as possible next year and maintain a .540 winning percentage in those that we do.

I can live with those kind of goals for next year.

I don't watch the Yotes much but Doan kicked ass in the shootout at the ASG. Could be one of the reasons why.

And if we weren't so good at shootouts, we could have drafted OEL 5th instead!

I'm not going to look this up, but I'm pretty sure Doan's shootout stats aren't too impressive. Which is odd because he was unreal at the ASG shootout.

I think whenever the Coyotes do a shootout, they need to put Doan's daughter on the bench so she can reward him with hugs.

Or used the 5th to move up like Brian Burke managed to do and taken Tavares at no. 1.

Damn those shootouts!

With Vrbata back in the lineup we should be even better. He always used that same backhand move but it worked.

That is what happens when Statistical Analysts and crack mix.

Oh, the horror!
