Some combo of...

PHX's '10 1st
CGY's '10 1st
PHX's '10 2nd
PHX's '11 1st
PHX's '11 2nd
PHI's '11 2nd
Nick Ross('07 1st)
Jared Staal('08 2nd)

...only after having extensive talks with Kessel before hand. He's RFA so that shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe something like CGY's '10 1st, PHX's '10 2nd, and PHX's '11 1st. That way we still have a first rounder this draft, and we have two seconds in the next draft. Boston gets what likely a late first, and early second in this draft and a mid first in the next. If that's not enough, maybe toss in Ross or Staal, or something. I don't really know. Something along those lines.

There's an unsubstantiated rumor out there that Kessel is being traded to the Blues, so it's probably a moot point anyway.

I'd sooner believe an E2 than that link.

At this point too, If I'm the Yotes I would look to offering Mats Sundin one last big pay day for one season and look to trade him at the deadline to a contender if we are not in the hunt by that time.
Vancouver may have a harder time now trying to get him with how big of an extension Luongo just signed!

Anyways Who on the Yotes can get TP mad enough to play with anger?

It doesn't kick in until next year and is at a lower cap than his current contract.

MALONEY EXPLAINS SIGNING PYATT

Quote:
"He brings some much needed size to our forward group and he is a solid compliment to our speed and skill,” Maloney said. “In addition, he has had success in Vancouver playing in front of the net on the power play, something we have been looking for.”

So... Pyatt volunteered to stand in front of Doan's one-timers? Might be the crazy SOB we need.

A player willing to go to the net. I've heard about that, but don't recall seeing much of it these past few years. In our offensive zone, anyway.

Sadly, the only player I remember that was willing to cut from the boards straight to the net was Lisin. Scored a few that way too.

I remember back before Doan was the Coyotes best player, or a player anyone had ever heard of, Francis playing him on the point. No one knew about his shot, or that his shallow wind-up was lethal. There was a stretch of time when he was regularly injuring players that didn't know what kind of shot they blocking.

Another reason to sign Comrie. I am still having trouble accepting that Lisin is gone.

Taylor Pyatt is a far better player than Nigel Dawes. As above, PC fans will be happier with Taylor than they seem to be expecting to be.

He's not a shot deflector like Ryan Smyth is if that what you mean.

Isn't six hundred kay the minimum for a player with his experience?

I checked yesterday's Republic to read about the signing, and there was nothing. Again, this morning I was hoping for a tidbit, but could not find anything. I don't believe that the Arizona Republic has yet printed Taylor Pyatt's name.

Yeah, I'm just talking print. I scoured both yesterday's and today's, this morning, and found nothing. Well, at least they mentioned him electronically. That's got to count for something, right? HAHA!

When I think about it more, I'm starting to like this signing. Maloney is notorious for his low risk good reward signings. I try to think back on who the last guy we had on a PP who just stood in front of the net and screened the goalie, a real big body type. The last I can think of is Weller to be honest. I always remembered Pyatt as kind of a underwhelming player but he was always right in front of the net creating havoc. If he can do that effectively for us that's only going to help players like Jovo, yandle, and Mueller when he plays point. It's good to have that option, because nobody else on the team really offers that. The team is going to have a ton more jam around the net this year.

I think Weller was more an experiment in that role. Just as was Ed Jovanovski, last season. The last time we had someone fill that role on a consistant, every game basis, was Keith Tkachuk.

In any event, he's joins a long list of potential twenty goal scorers...

Pyatt(didn't hit twenty last two years but had twenty three the season before)
Prucha(only had six and seven the last two years, but had twenty two and thirty in the two seasons previous)
Upshall(only fifteen last year, but eight in just nineteen games as a Coyote)
Lombardi(only had fourteen each of the last two years, but had twenty the year before)
Vrbata(had twenty seven the year before last)
Mueller(had twenty two the year before last)
Doan(has averaged twenty nine a year since the lock out)

Big offensive improvements from the likes of Boedker, Hanzal, and Turris are not out of the question, either.

That's ten guys.

Jovanovski didn't even really play much of a screening role in front of the net. More of like a high slot option, and to create havoc when the puck got around the crease. We shouldn't have to put our highest paid dman in the slot when there is 12 other forwards and that's why I like Pyatt. He gives us something we haven't had since Tkachuk, and a little move veteran locker room presence.

When you look at the roster and you do realize that we have a ton of potential depth scoring. That's good, because everyone is going to have to chip in. Doan can't do it all himself.
