Tampa signs defensmen Mike Lundin

Quote:
The Lightning signed defenseman Mike Lundin to a one-year deal. It is a two-way contract that pays $550,000 if Lundin is in the NHL and $105,000 if he is in the minors.

He wanted a one way, got a two way. Not bad, but I don't see him making the big club either.

He needs to put on about 25 pounds in muscle and run with the big kids again before he starts asking for a one way.

Lawton said he expects to make two trades before the roster is set. Expect draft choices and prospects to be the priority as the team manages payroll.

"Mike signed a contract with the goal to play in Tampa," Lundin's agent Ben Hankinson said. "If it doesn't work out, in Tampa Bay, then we are confident GM Brian Lawton will give him a chance with another NHL club."
If he doesn't make the team, I think he's good as gone. I don't think he'll be back to the AHL.

If he doesn't make the team, I think he'll be one of the players gone, even though he doesn't cost much. I think he'll try to find another team instead of going back to the AHL.
Lawton has said he does not want to move Lundin. In terms of who is most likely to go, Hale and Krajicek are on the pre camp short list, in my opinion.

He cleared waivers once, wouldn't surprise me if he did again. Hopefully we can get a pick out of him though.

I agree with Krajieck, but I don't think we'll be able to trade Hale.

Hale, Lundin for sure in the minors. Kraijek is good but may be a cut picked up elsewhere

Hale could just be released, I wouldn't mind too much...

No point in releasing him, still have to pay him and he can be a useful veteran for Norfolk. He won't be moved for anything of value though, maybe a swap for a forward with equal negative value.

I'm predicting Lundin and Kracijek moved.
