[SJ/LA/OTT] Heatley to SJ, Frolov & Stoll to OTT, Marleau to LA per ESPN

Quote:
Two league executives told Sun Media Wednesday they’ve heard talk the Senators, Sharks and Kings have discussed a three-way deal that would send Heatley to San Jose, centre Jarrett Stoll and winger Alexander Frolov to Ottawa and centre Patrick Marleau to the Kings.

Sharks GM Doug Wilson has insisted he has “never” asked Marleau to waive his no-trade clause. The executive said Marleau, recently stripped of his captaincy by the Sharks, likely wouldn’t remove the clause to move East, but might be enticed if he could stay in the West.

I don't really like it from the Ottawa perspective, but whatever. Just another rumour.

I would do it if I were Ottawa. My question is would San Jose really want to trade Marleau to L.A.?

Not sure if I like this or not... Frolov has a big raise coming up and is a pending UFA.

Kind of a lot for LA to give up considering Marleau is a rental. I know Frolov is too but, Stoll is signed to a nice contract and Fro is younger and would be easier to resign given Marleau's numbers and star power. I would prefer just resigning Frolov and shop Stoll along with our 1st rounder for a center upgrade.

you get rid of Heatley and get two good players in return. What else are you expecting at this point.

Don't like it for Ottawa. Frolov is a rental and Stoll is an overpaid third liner, which Ottawa already has in spades.

Stoll also scored over half his points last year with the man advantage, 3.5 million a season for 20 even strength points? No thanks.

Just like clockwork...one of these rumors (each with a slight change) pops up every 24 hours.

Exactly. I would hope something else would be coming back to L.A. for that price.

If we also get cap space along with the deal, it's decent, but if it includes us taking on another big time contract ( excluding Clowe, Michalek) then I don't like it.

And since I'm guessing more has to come from SJ considering they can't get Heatley for Marleau...

To OTT (10 in, 9.6 out)

Frolov
Stoll
Clowe

To LA (6.3 in, 6.5 out)
Marleau

To SJ (9.6 in 9.8 out)
Heatley
Kelly
Cheap roster player such as Schubert, who is also versatile and Physical.

This is truly the only way I see a deal working out

Why would we get Clowe too? Ugh, this is why I usually stay away from this section of the board. Im going to stop right now.

So the Sharks throw in Clowe and they get Kelly and Schubert? I doubt they do it. The rumoured trade is fine for Ottawa. Stoll could be the second line centre, Frolov a first line left winger and the team saves 1 million in cap space. Ottawa will not likely get a better offer than that before the season starts.

I think we absolutely could get Marleau for Heatley.

Heatley want's to be traded and has done everything possible to completely sabotage the senators options.

Marleau loves his team, had a career season, and doesn't want to be traded. San Jose has no reason to trade him other than to get someone better (we have cap space now).

Heatley is probably better than Marleau value wise were all things equal. Marleau plays a better two way game and is no cancer. Evens them out.

If I'm DW, I walk away laughing and keep Marleau. I prefer him any day of the week.

So don't except it then Murray.

We are getting Frolov, UFA at the end of the year, probably seeking 3.5-4.5, and Stoll, A player who a while ago racked up points like it was no big deal, but in the last two seasons has only had 36, and 41

Fine with me.

The best line in the game can stay together

Alain Sanscartier, a former QMJHL head coach, and who's now working on the Sens broadcast, thinks a trade will get done by tomorrow midnight

he didn't mention any team, so I can't say if he's refering to that rumour, but he thinks it has to happen sooner rather than later

I'm not expecting anything more, but that doesn't mean I'd be thrilled with the trade, outside of it resolving the situation once and for all. At this point it's unlikely that any trade will be satisfying.

You might prefer him but Marleau has never taken the team anywhere while being the captain, and Wilson took the C from him this off-season. Not to mention that if the Sharks want Heatley they need to trim some payroll.

I see where you're coming from, but maybe Stoll hasn't fit in with L.A. or maybe didn't play with the right players. I have no idea mind you because I don't follow the Kings.
