Thus begins a season full of anger and disappointment, I love hockey season as much as baseball season and can't wait to get my hand on NHL 10 tomorrow.

As listed by club, 5 LW and 3 RW and Grachev playing C. My thoughts:

Lisin-Anisimov-Callahan
Parenteau-Grachev-Brashear
Byers-Boyle-Maccarone

Staal-Girardi
Gilroy-Sauer
Del Zotto-Semenov

I would guess something like this:

Kotalik-Drury-Grachev
Parenteau-Anisimov-Lisin
Higgins-Boyle-Callahan
Brashear-Maccarone-Byers

Staal-Gilroy
Girardi-MDZ
Sauer-Semenov

It spreads out the veterans so that Torts and company can see who plays well with NHL level talent. Parenteau and Anisimov had some good chemistry from last season so I would think they would be kept together, and on defense, I am just going with the pairings I saw in the scrimmages with Staal-Gilroy and Girardi-MDZ.

I'd bet that Grachev would be put on the left wing since he is a C/LW. But other than that looks alright.

Ahh, I think I mixed the sides for Kotalik and Grachev. I would switch them.

I'd almost rather see a Grachev-Anisimov-Lisin line and a Kotalik-Drury-PAP line or something because I think that youth line would rock together and Kotalik with Drury might still have some chemistry.

I agree but I just think Torts may want to see how they can play with some of the more veteran players because that is who they will most likely be playing with if they make the team. I would imagine he will juggle the lines like crazy anyways.

Grachev as a center? Has shown to be considerably less effective in that role... with Brashear no less...

Doesn't make sense to me at all.

You'd think that management pay attention to these things? If a fan sees it, then they must, no?

He is a winger, please use him as such. And please don't use him with offensively inept players... my frustration about mishandling players is ALREADY starting....

EDIT: nevermind, upon further review that was just Zipay's opinion.

Pretty terrible.

Higgins - Drury - Kotalik
Grachev - Anisimov - Lisin
Parenteau - Boyle - Callahan
Byers - Maccarone - Brashear

Staal - Gilroy
Del Zotto - Girardi
Semenov - Sauer

Is what i would go with, with that group of players.

To be fair, I believe that was Zipay's guess as to lines, not something that management has come out and stated for the record. Honestly, I think Sting's proposed lines make much more sense.

My girlfriend scheduled a dinner for tomorrow night. Fortunately, according to the MSG Network website, tomorrow is also the first scheduled airing of Rangers in 60 (at 11:30pm)...

Yeah, he reposted saying his guess at the lines was just that, a guess and that with further research had a few things wrong including Grachev at center.

Only thing I would change is MDZ with Gilroy, see if there is any chemistry there. Otherwise

Lines for tonight, based on morning skate.

http://njmg.typepad.com/rangersblog/...-pairings.html

Quote:
Based on this morning's skate, here's the lines and the defense pairings for tonight's preseason opener against the Bruins at Madison Square Garden:

Christopher Higgins-Chris Drury-Ales Kotalik
Evgeny Grachev-Artem Anisimov-Ryan Callahan
Donald Brashear-Brian Boyle-P.A. Parenteau
Dane Byers-Matt Maccarone-Enver Lisin
Marc Staal-Matt Gilroy
Michael Del Zotto-Dan Girardi
Alexei Semenov-Mike Sauer
G: Steve Valiquette, Matt Zaba
Pre-season opener so not a big deal but Lisin doesn't fit on the 4th. Other than that not bad.
