Point Predictions per TSN

Check it out...they peg most of our guys pretty low, with Mike Cammelleri leading us with only 67 points! Yikes!

Yes they have A Kost having 50+ points and I like that....but having Cammy our 6 million dollar man who's had 2 80 point seasons not even get 70 points would be disappointing. Not to mention seint Gomez not improve his point total given his massive contract, and see Gionta dip to under 60 points....not very appealing.

No way Markov is only +1 under Martin.

These stats are very conservative extrapolations from previous years. If they gave optimistic predictions for players of all teams then they'd have each of them score 300+ goals and the league returning to a massive goal scoring era.

Can't say I'm surprised. All sports outlet have lowered the points total for the Habs since this team is composed of many new faces and they don't want to overrate the team based on the individuals, which is fine by me as long as the points are spread out. If we get 4-6 20+ goal scorer this season, I won't be disappointed.

2 years ago we had the leagues #1 offense and we did it with only one ppg player and a balanced offence. How we fare will not be based on the top point getters total, but how our secondary scoring does. Also I think these points are based on Martin being the coach. An article yesterday referred to Martin talking about our D men being fourth attackers. I'd look for us to have one of the top offensive D units in the league.

I don't care who gets how many points as long as the team gets 2 team points.

Yeah I say Cammalleri hits the 70 point mark this year and gomez gets at least 55

To be honest, I don't really put any stock in their predictions, cause they're wrong most of the time. And I prefer the underdog role, than being put on a pedestal like last season...

If Gomez doesn't get his 50 assists I'm pretty upset..

Gomez should get 60-65 pts at least (at that price, too!)

Pretty realistic IMO

Three 20 goal scorers and one 30 goal scorer

My opinion is that we should be paying no more than 100 grand per point. So if he has less than 73 points, F#*k him.

IMO.

agreed, bigtime, but i want something like 21 g 54 a 75 pts from gomez, wont be pissed with 65 tho

i think gionta will shock everyone and score 33 goals,
i think andrei kostitsyn is gonna have a 25 g 40 a 65 pt season, (but it might end up like 22g-25a again..hope not..)
i think cammy will score 30-35, but i pray for 35-40 g, bout 70 pts
i think plek can muster up a 25-40 without kovy and 2 great wingers, what id LIKe to see is 50 assists also tho

alot of offense to go around i know but, i hope they can achieve these lil goals lol

Really curious as to the logic they used to predict the points.

40. Mike Cammalleri MON RW 30 37 67 -4 28 48
48. Scott Gomez MON C 17 48 65 2 19 54
71. Andrei Markov MON D 12 46 58 1 33 52
96. Brian Gionta MON RW 23 31 54 3 17 38
104. Andrei Kostitsyn MON LW 27 25 52 3 16 40
121. Tomas Plekanec MON C 23 27 50 5 17 44
214. Sergei Kostitsyn MON LW 13 26 39 5 12 78
239. Jaroslav Spacek MON D 7 30 37 2 18 44

Looks logical, except how Cammy is the lone guy on - in +/-.

If you don't put too much optimism in to the possible rejuvenation of Gomez-Gionta chemistry and the possible rebound of Plekanec from an off year this could be close to it. I guess these are pretty much the minimun what you can wait for. 6 guys projected over 50 is huge and point totals invidually seem reasonable, though Cammy could have been put above 70.

just when I thought the sports infotainment business couldn't get any dumber.

Scott Cullen must have been an economist in another life because some **** is just too complex to be predicted, yet there's always one in the crowd that thinks he can.

I agree for the most part with them...although I would like to see Patches jump up and score 20 goals this year
