He does not fit into the Buffalo D at all as he plays forward. Small, quick, very skilled scoring / playmaking forward. IMO he is Buffalo's top scoring prospect, putting him a notch above Gerbe. I think there is a chance he cracks this years lineup.

Doesn't fit into the defense at all...considering he's a midget center...

He's the guy who scored 6 goals in this game:

Start at 1:14.

Overall he is the Sabres top D prospect and has a lot of potential. You will get a split on Sabres fans if he is ready this year, and if there is room. Contrary to popular opinions the Sabres are not hurting at D. Their depth was weak years ago but that is no longer a problem.

As for this years roster you have 5 locks (assuming no trades):

Tallinder
Lydman
Rivet
Butler
Sekera

I would put Myers in as the sixth.

The other possible Dmen are:
Dipenta
Montador
Paetsch

Which defenders do you see manning the power play this year?

Tallinder might not start, and Weber is in the conversation as well.

Pominville on the 1st PP and Rivet on the 2nd are the only real certainties. Butler, Sekera, Lydman and Myers if he makes it have a chance at being the left handed shots.

I knew I was forgetting someone (Weber). I checked the roster at Sabres.com which has a bunch of rookies as well and they do not have Weber, so I did not catch my mistake.

Hard to say with the PP. But based on what I saw at development camp I would love to see Butler get time there. I am a big fan of Myers and he has a massive point shot, but he seemed to stuggle with accuracy, at least during dev. camp. Butler on the other hand has a real accurate point shot that he got through easily. Combine that with his well rounded game and I think he deserves a look at the point.

Good signing for Buffalo, I hope he cracks the line up. It would be nice to see what he can bring to Buffalo. Myers should make the line up too. Mabey as the 6th or 7th D-Man there. Both very good prospects.

Looking at that group, I think the best thing for Buffalo would be to let Myers play in the AHL for a season. Montador needs to be on the NHL roster or your D will have next-to-no grit.

Myers can't play in the AHL initially this season due to his age...he has to turn 20.

even if montador doesn't start the season with buffalo, he will play a fair share of games. the most consistent part of our blue line the past few seasons has been injuries.

Also, while ideally you would have grit and grind in both your forward and defensive ranks, almost the entire bottom 6 forward slots for Buffalo are of the grit variety.

A lack of grit is no longer the biggest issue for Buffalo.

Is Ennis going to play for Buffalo this year? He seems like a prototypical Buffalo prospect - small, quick and gritty - but does he have the potential to be an impact player like Roy/Pominville?

i wouldnt bet against it if he produces in Portland, he has a higher ceiling than Gerbe or Kennedy in my opinion and has more natural talent ...he reminds me of Pat Kane when he has the puck down low.

he has better stick skills than both Roy/Pominville, if he can get up to 180lbs i really believe he can be a legit top 6 player.
