Well I did not see the game live but from the highlights, the team looks good. It looked very emotional for an exibition game so a 3rd period was expected to be a long and tuff one for the guys.

Any how, great for the good start

I love the praise Squid gives to Markov, during the post game interviews, as seen on TSN.

He's making all the right noises to be Captain, IMO...

Yea, let's just stay level and consistant with this. Captain or not, Cammy is a good team player and that like a silent captain anyways.

Also noted that D'ago looks a bit bigger and what a shot this kid has.

So can D'Ago be the sleeper this year. 25 goals is realistic from him.
Let's see if he can be a 2 way winger.
I also hope he worked on his releast cause it's a bit slow. great shot but can be block by defenders easely if the play up tight on him.

The problem with D'ago is that he is too much like Ryder, one dimensional and not contributing when he isn't scoring.

He's still young, he'll learn to round out his game...and he's got the perfect coach to learn how to do so.

this is why I'm kinda keeping hope for this kid. Ryder did well wen coached and now people are gonna see a real coach at work. This doesn't garanti success but it's a step in the right direction.
Prop to Carb cause he was in a learning curb and did ok but was no coach.

D'ags actually looked a bit better in the defensive zone last night, he said in the post game interviews that he has been working really hard on that side of the game.

Cammalleri is going to be the captain, you could tell during his interviews that he is born to be a captain. I like how he mentioned that him and Gomez are really trying to get AK to open up and communicate more, which he said he has been doing. I really like to hear comments like this, it shows they care about the teams success.

I'm telling you guys...Cammalleri is going to get the captaincy, because he WANTS it.

To tell you the truth, I didn't really care who would get the "C" but i've been so impressed by Cammalleri since Gainey signed him that he's won me over

D'Ago looks like a definite possibility imo.

Tony Marinaro pretty much in love with Cammalleri to start his show, haha.

Also said that the vibe he got out of the room last night was the best since the one he got the night after game 6 of the 2004 Bruins series.

And he added that he saw more structure in the Habs game the first 2 periods than in the last 2 years.

Good point by Marinaro about the structure. I know it's early but you see signs that a good system is being implemented.

I was really happy when I heard that. Andrei is the reserved type and the language barrier doesn't help either. However, the guy is not mute and I'm pretty sure he can at least hold a hockey conversation in English. It's good to see the new guys trying to make him comfortable, to get his insight as well as theirs to make the line/team better. We all know Kostitsyn is not the most confident guy in the world, so if the current leaders of this team can make him feel like he is one of the key pieces of the group by surrounding and befriending him, it could be the missing piece to AK's puzzle. As a big fan of his, I hope so anyway.

Haha, that's pretty random.

But I am absolutely loving the personalities of all the North American guys brought in this summer. I don't really know much about Spacek the guy but I'm sure he will fit in just fine. Gainey did his homework when selecting what type of people he brought in to this team.

At first if I had to choose, I felt Gomez was going to be our next captain. But from everything I've heard/read so far. I agree Cammalleri is the best choice. So I'm officially on the "Cammy4Captain" bandwagon.

So true.

I flipped a little when I first saw that Gionta made 1 million more per year than Havlat, but then I reminded myself of the direction the team took in terms of player origins. We definitely went NA and while I don't doubt a guy like Havlat can be a great leader, Gainey had a plan and stuck to it and I'm impressed right now by the guys he brought in, if only personality-wise.

Marinaro just made some interesting points that i agree with regarding last night's game. you have latendresse and lapierre running around throwing some pretty big hits, they both refused to drop the gloves several times and then latendresse gets hacked in the wrist which started the scrum leading to the obyrne fight.

Am I the only one that feels Lapierre/Latendresse need to fight once in a while in order to avoid cheapshots that will get someone injured? Latendresse easily could have walked away with a broken wrist last night.
