As the result of recent trades the Bruins now have 5 picks in the top 2 rounds of the 2010 draft and three in the top 2 rounds of the 2011 draft. Since our extra picks come from Tampa and Toronto, they should be pretty high in the draft order as well.
What is the role of these picks? Are they mostly just to rebuild the farm system or are they trade pieces to get us something we want without costing us existing roster talent?
I'm definitely liking the idea of rebuilding our farm system on the fly while simultaneously contending. It smacks of the best of both worlds.
Cam Fowler. Hopefully we leverage them to get into the top 10 (I'm guessing the Toronto 2010 1st round pick could be anywhere between 10-20) and get an elite guy like Fowler. I feel like we have some decent depth, albeit no elite guys, for forwards...we need top shelf talent, especially on D, more then we necessarily need quantity of picks.
