Dubinsky

It's been mentioned in a few other threads but now I think it deserves its own.

What do people think about dealing Kobasew away and trading for Dubinsky? He's only looking for 1.5M and by offer sheet compensation that's a second-round pick. The NYR are only offering him 700k and that was after holding firm at 500k or so before that.

He doesn't have Kobasew's scoring touch goal numbers, but he has the same number of points. He has a clearer injury history, he's still improving, he's a fan favorite in NY, he's cheaper, and dealing Kobasew for a good league-minimum defenseman would add to the depth without taking on salary.

I'd love to see it but I don't think NY Rangers would take Kobasew for him. I can see NY taking something like Sobotka and maybe a later pick for him but I'm not sure if I'd want to do that since I love Sobotka's game. Maybe send a couple of picks for Dubinsky or even offer him an offer sheet and trade Kobasew elsewhere for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

I should've clarified:

The Rangers won't take Kobasew. They can't afford to. But other teams would give a second-rounder for him and Boston could then give their own second-rounder to NYR for Dubinsky.

I've always loved Dubinsky for some reason. I'd look at giving them our 1st (2010) for him.

Me too, and I'd do that deal as well.

That said, highly doubt it happens.

Would love having Dubinsky on this team. Good proposal, would be nice to see it happen.

You say things like that and we will think you're Eklund.

A few on here appear big on asset management and this is just what PC wants too.

Count me in! I wonder what the Rangers would want and what we could get for Kobie

Haha. Eklund and I never have been seen in the same room together.

id certainly be happy with a kobasew for dubinsky swap. trade koby to someone for a pick or d-prospect (or cheap veteran d depth)
then grab dubinsky from the rangers for a second round pick

Yep. Use some surplus in picks to get him--let Sobotka develop for another year, see what happens after a year.
