Well i was doing homework, (organic Chemistry is awful btw) and watching and there was one image that stuck out in my head. There was an Ottawa forward coming down hard on the inside board with a D I think spacek imbetween. Price was at the the tip of the crease, rather then out of the blue paint. I know melanson said to him this is where he wanted him to play, hopefully Groulx will address this quick
Where did you see the game tonight? I thought it wasn't televised. I tried to see it online, but couldn't find it.

was on Center Ice
the only guys(out of the Hamilton guys) that survive the 1st round of cuts after the first 5 games are S. Kostitsyn, Chipchura, Weber, Max Pac, D'agostini, Subban, Stewart, White, Carle, Benoit And of course O'byrne.
Might only be, O'byrne, S.Kostitsyn, Chipchura, Weber, D'agostini, Stewart, Max Pac. Cause the Bulldogs go on a big road trip or something the next day?
I'd say that Sanford, Subban, Webber and Maxwell are going to be to only "Dogs" to survive the first round of cuts. Then those 4 with one of Stewart/Chipchura/Pacioretty are going to be assigned to Hamilton few days later.
If Chipchura and Laraque can't start the season, there is room for Patches, SKost, Stewart, D'Agostini PLUS one more player.
Cammalleri-Gomez-AKost
Patches-Plekanec-Gionta
Tender-Laps-Dags
Moen-Metropolit-SKost
..spare: Stewart
That's 20, plus 2 goalies = 22, so there is room for one more.
In my opinion, that player could be one of the following, in decreasing order of likelihood:
On Defence: Weber or Henry or Subban
Forwards: White or Maxwell or Nielson
Henry is playing well, much better than I expected, but is another LH shot. Subban needs seasoning. Weber skates better than Carle, who is otherwise a similar player.
White can play both RW and C, and is defensively responsible, thus a good substitute for Chipchura, whereas Maxwell would not play unless there is an injury to Plekanec or Gomez. Nielson is not the type of guy I would waste a roster spot on, but with the NE Division full of chest-pumping GMs, who knows if someone might see him as insurance until BGL returns?
adding to the list johansson, who was pretty much useless
and neilson's fight yesterday was at the very bad time. Before it the habs had momentum, they were flying, right after the fight everyone seemed to go to sleep...He def. need AHL time
The problem is they can't just cut 1/2 the team with 2 more games in 2 days. You don't want the first two lines starting the season exhausted or risk injury.
Who decides the preseason schedules? 5 games back to back is too much as you're forced to keep certain players, not because of their play, but to fill up a second roster.
I want Chipchura to start the season with us, it's probably his last contract with the CH if he plays the whole season in the AHL. I think he can be a good 3rd-4th line Center, but that's taken by Lapierre and Metropolit. Expectations for him are quite low, but he is very consistent.
I would say: the team needs to make the most of its remaining time to get a headstart on gelling. We know very well which players aren't even in the running to make the team. Sure, it's nice to give them a little taste of action, a little something for their development and confidence. But the big-league team was massively overhauled in the summer, new players and new coaches need to come together. Why delay that process further into the regular season? Every bit counts, every win counts in the modern NHL.
I hope I'm not missing somebody. But to me, get to the real battles. That's 26 players, and only 3 further cuts are needed. With two extremely likely ones in Weber and Subban. And a battle at forward unless Laraque or Chipchura stays hurt or somebody else gets hurt.

Don't need to waste time with anything else.
Laraque being injured is welcomed news for me, gives a chance for one of the "kids" to fight (or steal) for his spot.
G: Cedrick Desjardins, Robert Mayer
D: Chad Anderson, Shawn Belle, André Benoit, Michael Busto, Alex Henry, Frédéric St-Denis
F: Andrew Conboy, Mathieu Darche, Olivier Fortier, Mike Glumac, Dany Massé, Eric Neilson, Tom Pyatt, Ryan Russel, Ryan White, James T. Wyman
Cut #2: 25 players left
G: Curtis Sanford
D: Mathieu Carle, Yannick Weber
F: David Desharnais, Mikael Johansson, Benjamin Maxwell, Brock Trotter.

These 2 have to pass through waivers to go to Hamilton so don't expect them to be sent down.

I would imagine the preseason is compressed because the regular season starts a week earlier than usual due to the Olympics.
